Televised Jan 6 "Attack" hearings

The Republicans need a younger, somewhat moderate and pragmatic candidate that can attract the majority of voters from both sides of the isle. I think a lot of Dems held their noses when they pulled the lever for Biden-Harris and there are a lot of Republicans that were just tired of Trump's personality issues. There is no way in hell Trump will win in 2024 and the more the party allows him to be the face of the party the more fractured that party will become. He has too much of an ego to step aside though so I fear we will have at least 8 years of Democrats in the WH.

How much more pragmatic of a candidate could Republicans have put forth, than Romney and McCain?

The media called them racist, sexist and all the other ist’s. It does not matter who the Republicans nominate they will not get friendly coverage from the leftist media.

Very good points for sure. Perhaps what has to happen is let the Dems currently in power destroy the economy and quality of life for the majority of the voters so that anyone will look better, even to the left. Some thing has to give eventually.

Strong men beget good times

Good times beget weak men

Weak men beget hard times

Hard times beget strong men

And so goes the circle of life...

What made Regan great was his ability to take conservatism to the folks. He always had a common sense bent to him. Trump was very similar although much less diplomatic and more in your face. The answer is not weenies like McCain and Romney. Newt is a little too intellectual. The main problem is nobody has been effective in taking conservative ideology and making it governable, which requires compromise. Scary thing is Clinton was the most conservative President we have had in a while when pushed that way by Newt. Who’s next? No clue.

The following is my opinion of what happened on the way to the office.

I think that Donald Trump‘s ego wanted to be president and he would say anything to become president. I believe that Trump intended to govern as a Northeast moderate, he would appoint a bipartisan moderate cabinet, and as a result everyone would love him and adore him.

A brief digression before I go on, I believe that those who accomplish great things we’re not born that way, they were created in the Forge and tempered in the battles to become that which accomplishes more then they ever could have on their own.

The Democrats, press, and social media could not let up for even a moment on this guy, they created the guy that I say is the best conservative president of my lifetime. They stoked the Forge, they tempered the metal, they were the aggressors in the battle. It remains to be seen how the story ends.

The wishy-washy part leftist Republican does not inspire the base, and the base is where the votes are at not in pilfering votes from the other side. Ronald Reagan prove that by running as an unabashed conservative, and Newt Gingrich proved it again.

As for Trump, he won the last election and I fully expect that if he runs again he will win the next one. If one does not want Trump to be the face of the party then someone needs to step forward and represent the ideals of America.

To this I completely agree. Trump was wishy-washy in the beginning, which scared the hell out of me. Signing that Schumer $1.2t omni-bus bill for instance.

I believe the Dems pooched this one. Trump was ready to work with them. I bet he'd almost sign anything, but instead they (the Dems) decided to make enemies. From what I've seen Trump was a counter puncher to their BS. In the end, the result was a good turn around for America until Jan 6th 2021.

I agree. Trump wanted to be a "deal maker." But the Dems and Repubs couldn't make deals.

As Ralph Nader did to Gore paving the way for W to follow his dad. Which I might add may have been one of our better efforts at conservative government.
The problem with W's administration was it only focused on tax cuts -- the answer to every problem was a tax cut. While I like tax cuts as much as everyone, the middle class was getting slaughtered by "free trade" with China and Mexico. They did nothing. Thus the rise of socialism we see today. Then add the forever wars and I'll pass on George W.

Oh, I do disagree they did nothing on free trade. Under the bush administration the free trade Accelerated the Clinton era NAFTA and was the trigger of the avalanche.
