so I'm redoing the panel around my stereo in the cabin to include my AC/Heat controls and was looking for suggestions of a good material to use that would at least somewhat match the rest of the interior. as it sits now the stereo sits in some sort of weird fake marble looking plastic that really doesn't match anything else on the boat...I'd go teak but I haven't any luck finding any around my area and was wondering if anything else would match, (redwood maybe?) doesn't need to be perfect just hoping to be close
you can sort of see the area I'm talking about between the two storage spaces

Greg,
Nothing to add, but your 270 looks just like the interior of my Dad's '87. She's in great shape! I like how you had the cushions redone in vinyl. He had slip covers made for his cushions, but its not as polished looking.

We have two places here near annapolis that sell / consign boat parts. One is called Fairwinds Marina. They have a massive "old parts" inventory and may be able to put their hands on a teak or faux-teak panel that you could repurpose. The other one is called Bacon Sails. They have lots of teak stuff laying around and you may be able to find something there. A lot of times you can call either place during the week and they will look around for you if not busy. Sometimes even take cell pictures to email of potential matches for your needs.

Greg,

Why don't you get the dimensions you need and I make you one out of stainless?

We can make something special, I love being able to use a Laser!

On ours I used a piece of pine and stained it just for something temporary. It actually looks close enough and I have not bothered changing it to teak - low on my list.

Mahogany would work.

hop on Craigslist and find someone selling some lumber.

don't tempt me Jason, I'm afraid my creative juices will get out of hand and I'll have you making some sort of intricate piece complete with fog machine and a laser light show coming out of it  thanks for the tips guys, might have to call a few of those places and see what I come up with.
