Teak on the Classics

Personally, I have yet to see anything look better than oiled teak. I really dig the teak like KB64, but, we're brothers and I am probably just as "weird". Oiling the teak does not seem like much of a hassle once or twice a year and we have quite a bit of it.

I'm really up in the air on what direction to go with my teak. It looks ok but PO had varnished but it's starting to peel in areas. I bought a random orbital sander and a detail sander for the rails. I am removing the anchor chalks and replacing with a bow roller and chain lock for easier deployment. I was leaning toward sanding all the teak down to bare wood and varnishing. I paid someone to do my 260. He sanded down and oiled and it looked great. It did turn toward the end of the season even with re-oiling (I was in uncovered slip).

So my question is, could I scuff what's on it now and coat with a round of varnish and re-clear or would that look like crap? I guess I could try and just sand down if didn't turn out. I'm not one to cut corners but with my work schedule I'm worried about finding the time to complete the entire process before time to hit the water.
