Been years since I've visited the boards. I have a 2004 Sundeck 240. We love to use our stand-up paddleboard when we get out on the lake (Lake George, NY), but it's very cumbersome to transport inside the boat using bungee cords. We bungee it against the head door and the board extends from the helm all the way forward (11 ft). I have searched for storage solutions but you either need rails to attach onto or there are pontoon attachments.

Has anyone discovered a convenient method to transport their SUP in a Sundeck? Do you think the bimini support poles would be sturdy enough (the SUP is about 26 lbs) to use the commercial rack systems? In this manner, the board would be clamped to the bimini poles and would be transported on the outside of the boat. The support poles are pretty flimsy, especially on choppy waters.

Thanks.

Not exactly what you are asking, but we have an inflatable kayak that can also be used as a SUP. a really high quality, deflated into a case that is probably 12x18x36" or so.

My wife swears by hers and our dockmates love it as well.

Thanks for responding. I considered an inflatable SUP. They are much better in quality than they were several years ago, but ........... we already own a good board that we want to continue to use and, with an inflatable, it's still one more chore for me to do before I can relax (cooler, grill, fishing gear, floats, tubes, etc).

I’ve thought of somehow incorporating removable mounts on the swim platform. Something similar to a kayak mount that you see on the roof off a car but properly shaped and sized to hold the board on its side edge, transversing the platform from side to side.

There are unresolved issues with my idea, the board would be wider and extend past the platform on both sides, exposing It to possible damage while docking.

Could the board be damaged or dislodged in rough waters if water flowed over the platform?

How would the mounts be strong enough and easily removable?

My mental planning continues.........

Bungee to the swim platform would be the easy solution, but the board would extend well beyond the platform (not so bad) but well beyond the beam (very bad). I can just hear the crash when I dock.

I have also thought Kayak/SUP mounts similar to roof of car, particularly the J-shaped mounts, but the gunwale on the SD is curved and padded over it's entire length. I don't think J-mounts would be stable.

They also make racks to insert into rod holders or on hard-tops, but alas, none exist on our boat.
