So what should I expect to get? I am selling it for my Mother, it was my Father's boat and he recently passed away.

Any reasoning behind that number or just a estimate??? Because that is lower than any number I have seen anywhere short of a high hour, older, or lesser equipped boat w/o a 7K dollar trailer...

Selling yourself?

My guess = ask $51K. If someone offers $50, grab it.

Please keep in mind I have no idea where you are and am not looking to buy a boat. This is my ‘guess.’

- you are looking at asking prices of boats that are not selling.

- it’s a guess

- Look up NADA, enter NO options (even if you have them) take 20% off low retail (you are not a boat dealer) and bingo, that is my guess.

It’s a soft market.

Where are you?

I have a 1996, every option...Mine has the same motors but with Outdrives. It was in phenomenal shape when I bought it a year and a half ago for $59K. It had all updated electronics (Radar and GPS) This boat was always in fresh water, and of course the market was much stronger then.

Hope this helps

Alabama
good and bad thing: 3-4hours from FL/AL/MS North Gulf Coast and 4hours from GA Atlantic Coast.

Did NADA a few weeks back and left off some options but not all and low retail (w/o trailer) was 70-80, NADA with no options (nothing) is 40-45 (dang when we bought it there were people calling the broker and offering 5-10 grand more than we paid). I am thinking ~60s, but that is why I am asking. I know that gas prices have made anything with a motor decrease in value, esp a gas hog 11K pound boat.

You got me beat on electronics, however I would think V-Drives may counter balance that. Market was stronger then too though, I am not sure exactly what we paid but people were offering 65K the day we picked it up but we had already signed the bill of sale (this was in late 2006, read off season).

I think my boat is only worth about $60K at this point.

If that were true everyone on this board might as well move into their boat and just crawl up and die there. Unless there is something you aren't telling us.

I guess put it up for sale and see what happens. The worst that can happen is it will not sell.

I’m just telling you that most ‘for sale’ boats are not selling unless they are at a relative value.

The internet and various online boating classifieds have made it very easy for value hunters to find, well, value priced boats.

Thank you for your help, any recommendations/help/advice is welcome! I just think 45K is LOW even with the current fuel costs, however ultimate selling price is really dependent on how bad I want to get shed of it and what the buyer is willing to pay...

Just bring it over here to Virginia or anywhere the Four Suns will be this summer. The cat 4 hurricane is going to sink most of the boats on the coast so you'll be able to get the insurance.

It depends. I wouldn't have bought this boat with those engines and v-drives. I wanted the outdrives-better performance, economy, and it's easiser to get in and out of some of the shallower anchorages around here...

If I had to sell the boat in the exact condition it was in when I bought it now, in this economy, I'd list for $53 and take the first $49k. But I just added some stuff to my boat (extended platform, flat screen, new canvas, strataglass) so I wouldn't sell mine at all right now, I better enjoy it!:smt100

I've been monitoring the prices of late 90's 310 DAs for about a year and I think that $45K for your 300 is likely to get it sold. Higher will not, IMO. You might consider donating to a non-profit that accepts boats. Might be a good deal for the estate taxes.

His Mom is still alive.

I don’t know the situation, but even if they are well healed, had divided assets for tax management, and taxes will still be owed; I’d would think ½ the assets (deceased fathers assets) would be put in a trust that could be used by the mother until such time as she departs.

Sorry for way this is coming out. I know this is a boating forum, not a estate planning forum.

Back to boating….please…..

I hear what you mean.

I also would no way sell my boat for what it would sell for today.

The situation described is different.
