Last week a fellow boater 'helped' me anchor in a remote area of a sandy lake. He told me the best way to keep her straight while anchoring in shallow, sandy water is to point the bow towards the waves, throw an anchor out and lower the outdrive into the sand to keep the boat straight. I told him that I didn't want to risk damage to my OD and would pass on his suggestion (but thanks anyway).
My question is: who uses their outdrive as a second anchor in sandy conditions? Is this a normal practice?
