I took my stern drive off over the winter, when I put it back on I made sure the cable went into the stern drive cable clamp...
I started up the motor , with it in a 120 gallon tub. The prop spun (great way to clean the garage floor) I was in neutral..
It only spins forward , I'm guessing I did something wrong..
any help would be appreciated.. test.JPG

pull it off and see what you did wrong, I bet if you look at it and seen how it work's, you will find the problem.
I can't help much because I have only done the Alpha's.

I think I should have closed the clamp with some needle nose pliers ? I have been thinking about it and I remember having to open the clamp off the end of the cable..
Tomorrow is another day, I will see what happens when I take it back off..

Thanks BigBlockCutlass

I had something similar happen on my boat. The shift cable end is not properly inserted into the clip. Check the manual above, but the boat needs to be in gear when you install the drive for proper insertion. I believe in forward gear.

Driller has a Bravo II drive, they are NOT installed in gear. They are taken off and installed in neutral. I agree, the cable is out of the barrel jaws.

When I took it off , I had to put it full reverse before the barrel jaws were exposed. I kept it in the same position when I put it back on, however I didn't clamp the barrel jaws down..

SUCCES ! Took it back off, sure enough the jaws were in there and not connected. Put it back on ran forward and reverse. All is well
