Hello,
I have a 2010 sea ray 185 sport and I am wondering if I will be able to install a wet sounds stereo system without doing any long term damage to the boat do to the wattage and subwoofer output? Also has anyone ever put a amplifier in one of these boats? If so where did you mount it?
Thanks
Barco

Well, you got me on the "wet sounds" thing - I have no clue what that means.

However, as far as adding amps and such, plenty on here have done that and written about it. I'm sure they'll give you some insight. In the meantime, try doing some searches - you might be surprised with what you find. Here's one to get you going:

I have a 210 with a Wetsounds XS12 sub, 4 Bullet HLCD tower speakers and 4 Polk Audio in-boat speakers. I have 3 amps running the entire system plus a few other upgrades.

The sub is mounted under the drivers side dash.

The amps are mounted under the passenger side dash.

As long as the system is installed properly (correct wire sizes, gains and crossovers set correctly, etc) and the proper power supplied (adequate and proper battery selection and charging ability) there would be no worry for any damage, long or short term.

I do not understand your question totally, but I will take a stab at answering it anyhow.

SeaRay offers subwoofer(s) in almost all of their boats. I do not see how the sub itself could cause damage unless you got totally carried away and cut so many holes in your hull that it looked like swiss cheese.

I would be more concerned about your electrical set-up. Some questions I would ask myself:

Do I have an extra battery so I can run my system while at anchor?
Did I use the correct gage wire for the speakers and the +/- side of the amp(s)?
Did I install fuse(s) just incase a wire rubs and causes a short?
Is my sub a free-air design or made for an enclosure? Did I install it in the right location?

In my opinion, one (two max) sub is all you really need in a boat. The whole idea of boating is to relax, not to blast out your fellow boaters. That being said, it is nice to be able to rock while underway.
