The shape of things to come, no more sat domes on top of arches.

This is how it will look, I am in the process of installing the SL McFlatty in place of the sat dome. Looks a little weird to me, but it is the right place for it. I need to re-run the cable feeding this all because of five more feet and I don't want to cut and splice it. Going to finish this up this weekend before I move over to the summer slip.

That looks good. The "stubby" mount makes it look like it belongs there.
 
Regarding the Peplink (PL) and Starlink (SL) integration. I was able to get this going this week. As @dtfeld Dave mentioned, you need the new Firmware (FW) 8.4.x to get this working. There is a limitation on this and you MUST use these new features through InControl. InControl is a remote web app that allows you to remotely manage your PL router. It is also not free, I think it is a $30.yr sub but the first year is free with a new PL product. The below pic is from the overview screen that displays all of the connections setup on the PL router. The SL access is basic, but the lower part of the pic you can see a few remote options for controlling your SL. In this pic I also rebooted the SL through this interface and you can see the PL is displaying the status.

There may be more options then what is displayed here right now, as my account is still paused since I am still under the roof and why it is showing "Starlink Outage". Right now I am running FW version 8.4.1 build 5474. Going to move outside in a few weeks, so I will update this if anything changes.

Just an FYI regarding the Peplink BR1 MAX 5G Pro, they are all considered "PrimeCare" devices. The Starlink can only be managed through using InControl 2 remote access, it can not be accessed locally. And in order to use InControl2 to manage your device remotely, which includes the SL, you must subscribe to it. The normal license is $29/yr. But since the 5G is a PrimeCare device it will cost $149/yr. Talk about a rip off.

So you may want to think twice before sub'ing to InControl 2, it is free for the first year.

What SL service plan you have and cost/mo
Additional subscriptions you have to make it all work together and annual costs.

I'm interested, but in reality the only time I "need" it is crossing the lake. So for 2 hours my kids don't have WIFI. Boohoo... Mike

T-Mo service $50/month
SL in season RV-mobile $150/month - April through Oct.

Personally, if you have cell phone access for most of your boating area I would get the T-Mo home internet for $50/month and your done. I don't have cell phone access to most of where I boat, in fact most has no cell service so I can't have that.

But I will say this, I have way more then is actually needed at times and not enough other times. I still have issue with iNet from time to time. We all know how well marina wifi is and even if it is great for you at times it's not 100% of the time.

I shut SL down for the winter because I am under a roof, so thats when the cell kicks in. Next year I will be under a roof full time. So I don't know what that will bring, I do use the boat every weekend and at a minimum anchor out for the day somewhere. And sometimes we just decide to stay, that's when all of this really pays off.

Keep in mind I do all of my own work, so there could be install cost(s) as well. Of which I couldn't imagine.

Looks good but why get rid of the dome?
Will starlink get the TV to get connection through it without having to pay for streaming apps?

So DirectTv was ~130 a month which is what the dome was for. Starlink is only for iNet, and is $150/month but that lets you stream what ever you want. I cut the cord at home many years ago and ended up using YoutubeTv which is streaming at home and allows me to also stream a the boat under the same account. So cost wise I am paying a little more then with DTV but also get iNet so I can work from the boat when I like. So from that aspect I have no need for the DTV dome.

Two things that I will never go back to is Cable and/or DTV for Tv. Streaming is so much better with more options.

Thank you for all that, I purchased the starlink gen 3 and am installing in the hardtop of my 2000 510 it thought I would have to pay for you tube tv which was similar to what I’m paying for direct t v. Guess I’ll have to look into the streaming stuff if it’s free with the starlink subscription of the $150.
