Mildly built 350 chevy with 300hp and merc outdrive
When I bought my boat it came with a second stainless prop. Should I rebuild it and us it or just leave the alum. One on there.

Is it the same or different pitch?
Is there a chance you may ground the prop ocassionally and if so is it into sand, mud or rock?

Having a second prop is always good with an outdrive. You never know when you might need it because you hit something. Stainless, well I never liked them. I found if you hit something with stainless, possible more damage.

I had my stainless prop stolen off the back of my out drive while it was sitting in my driveway. They were nice enough to reinstall the nut and keeper so I wouldn't loose it. I had an aluminum prop in the hold with the same pitch and diameter. After installing it I noticed my top speed had decreased by 5 MPH. I called Skipper Buds and asked about it and they said that some aluminum prop will deflect under load and actually flatten out causing a loss of top speed. Put a stainless back on and got my 5 MPH back .

I would not have an outdrive with an al prop... The stainless is more efficient and will last the life of your boat...

My questions were leading up to this:
If the pitch is different he may or may not want to swap. If he ocasionally runs aground or stirs up the bottom then SS may not be the safest.
Need more info.

I don't know the pitch of either of the how can you tell? I'm gonna have the stainless rebuilt and us it and keep my alum. One for back up and don't worry I won't hit bottom my boat only rides the gulf of mexico I got a 30hp john boat I use for shallow fishing. I got the sea ray to be a deep sea fishing boat that I can sleep on. I just bought my two tuna pole both penn internationals 150# with 14/0 senaters cost a grand each. Also runnin duel outriggers penn 600 with 1000lb steel cable. I fish a lot hell I got 36 fishing poles lol but I'm from ohio right on lake erie and all I needed was my john boat there but now I'm goin for the big ones. I bought the sea ray cause I knew they are the cadillac of boats. I was gonna get a 30 foot but I didn't want one that big cause gas is already bad enough in the 24 foot. I liked the fact that I got a 77 cause easy to fix I can rebuild a 350 with my eyes close and I looked at many older sea rays and the reason I got this one is I knew it needs some work but the hull is absoluly mint not a knick or scratch on it. Now one more question is my hull is faded and its original color is bright yellow is there any way to get it back to the original color?

Yellow is my favorite.

There should be some numbers stamped on the prop somewhere around the hub that will look something like 15.75X17 or in that range.
