In our last house, I had about $25k invested in the family rooms hardwired surround sound system... Adcom, Rotel, with B & W speakers in the front & center and in the rear.. a huge 800 watt B & W sub woofer and pair of B & W tower speakers. Integrated into this system was a Russound 6-zone keypad system (5-zones interior and 1-zone in the back yard), which gave me the ability to choose from any of the sources, as well as any of the 300 CD's on a Sony CD changer!
In this house, in the family room... I have a SONOS sound bar hardwired to and under my 65" Samsung LED TV, a wireless SONOS sub woofer and wireless SONOS speakers on wall brackets in the rear, which sound better than the hardwired stuff in the last house. I also have a pair of wireless SONOS speakers in the kitchen, master bedroom, office, garage and SONOS's portable wireless speaker for the deck. All of this is more easily controlled through the SONOS app than the hardwired system was through the keypads and for a fraction of the cost! Lately, we find ourselves watching TV in the master bedroom and am considering adding SONOS's smaller sound bar and sub woofer for a surround sound setup.
