Sooooooo, what's up!

I like the way this has turned out..... The helpfulness and knowledge with some easy going ribbing.....

That other **** before was like having a true drunk posting, and you just want to tell him to sleep it off..... You know, the guy that's so f'ed up that he doesn't get that people don't see it as funny and bordering on uncomfortable....That **** I can do without.

Play ball....

BTW- Where do you get an unregulated nuclear reactor? Defender or Ebay? Sounds cool........

Well Im thinking about using my portable generator on my boat but I don't want to get it wet so I'll leave it in the cabin and run an exhaust hoseThur the portal, what do you think?

just kidding.lol

My genny is misbehaving, if I am down your way, would you mind of I tied off next to you and just dropped an orange extension cord in your boat to run my AC, water heater, micro, TV and probably my lights? That’d help me out a lot!

LOL!!!! Just kidding too....!!!!

This is one of those threads I have typed something in and deleted just because everyone is going to take it the wrong way. So, maybe I should have deleted this as well but the above post have me typing away. ALL other sites that you mention, forum site, have one thing in common from what I have seen, including this site. The clique. When you enter a forum and people are bashing each other or making jokes you feel less like joining since you are not part of the clique. You feel like you are interrupting an on going conversation that for the most part you know nothing about. Hence the above statements about generators etc. New people have no ideas what that is referring to, unless of course you are in the clique, and then you don't mind that type of conversation. I will tell you I am here quite a bit and most of the time I have no idea what these little jokes, comments are referring to and just skip the entire thread and move on. Like it or not, this forum is not much different than any other. It is very enjoyable and sometime informative, but if you are not part of the clique, you are lost and typically move on to another site.

I dunno - I think inside jokes are a natural part of a "community". I'm sure cliques exist too - esp when a group of members know each other in real life...

In the meantime, I think the fact that owners of other brands of boats post here regularly speaks volumes about this site.

I agree with RollerCoastr. You will always have the inside jokes and ribbing especially with a forum this active. People cannot be expected to temper their responses in fear that a new person will not understand the inside line. Newbies like myself just need to jump in and get known and then all will be well.

...and it's pretty easy to find a boating forum with a running joke about portable generators. In fact, it's hard to find a boating forum that HASN'T beaten the subject to death.

I don't think anyone has to be in any kind of a click to benefit from good advice and experienced help. As far as the bantering goes, all one has to do is read a few threads every now and again. It doesn't take a degree in psycology to catch on to where a lot of this stuff is coming from and going too. I think it's just plain harmless fun and entertainment. Maybe people who are grumbling are just expecting too much. Kinda like how some people are in restaurants; doesn't matter how good the meal and service are, they'll find something wrong. And it usually boils down to the fact that they didn't get their a$$es kissed just the way they thought they would. Go figure eh?

I just hope I'm not the one that posted what FW is referring to:

"I saw one of the dumbest comments I've witnessed on CSR in 5+ years"

Carry on.... :smt024

I agree with Chris. Regardless of whether or not you are in a clique you can learn from and enjoy this site. But are there some amounts of “inside jokes” or invitations to members that are close or that other members know, or technically/mechanically savvy that like to one up each other, or self righteous? Yes. So what? If I’m uncomfortable with it, I move on and ignore it.

Look at the joke here in this thread, simply people trying to make light of a thread that was going sour, about generators! To quote Larry the Cable Guy, “now thats funny, I don’t care who you are, if you don’t think that is funny.....” well, you get it! Its a joke! Lets laugh a little, I think many of us do!

I suppose I have said some foolish things in some of my posts, but weren’t intended to malicous or anything. I would like to think of it as youthful thinking! I am past the 1/2 century mark, but still feel like a 20 year old!

Matt

Matt, I'm exactly the same, past the half century but feel like a 20 year old............my only problem, is if the admiral catches me......I'm screwed!!!!

As I am a "new to me" boat owner as of this past June, I feel compelled to comment. For a year or so before making my purchase, I joined CSR and only read and learned. We had our eye set on a 260DA and read about the issues with the '06s being top heavy and hard to handle. However, after reading threads here, I learned that I did not have to be afraid of it so we made the purchase. Because of this forum, I have not had the first issue with handling the boat as others have described on the net. This forum has saved me untold amounts of money and grief over the past 4 months all due to the wonderful people on here that have helped me out. I am sure I have asked some dumb questions, but to me they were not. I do try not to ask the same one twice. I have no idea who has left that was so prominent so I cannot comment on that. I will say that it is easy to tell "who knows what." I am in no position to argue with anyone, but try to get the varied opinions and then form my own. I hope one day to be as knowledgeable as some on here. If I keep having problems and spending money, that day will come sooner than I had hoped!

Anyway, I do appreciate everyone that has helped me and listened to my woes. It has been fun and will continue to be. Thanks again-Bennett

Gary, the joint "rode markers" photo was excellent, but the best one was the wingle$$ duck and the urinal….see if you can find it.

I have an idea Gary will be back with a vengance when he gets finishes slaying his current bunch of dragons.
