She's a 2003 Cobalt 293 Cutty - Cobalt's flagship until 2005 when they made a couple of larger models with the biggest now being 35'. Starting in the mid 90's they began to build their boats without any structural wood. Fibreglass and composite materials only (including the hull sides and transom). For a 20yr old boat with 520 hours it is in great shape and it's reassuring to know there wont be any wood rot!

Took her for a sea trial and all I can say is WOW! This boat performs!! Comfortable, quiet and impressively equipped along with a performance edge that I've never experienced. Closed the deal but now have to wait till spring to enjoy.

Congratulations on the sale, and the new boat. We just decided today that we're going to sell our 310 next spring.
I'm going to upgrade our aluminum fishing boat, and get out of the cruiser boats.

Congrats Jimmy. Cobalt makes a really nice boat. I got a little education on the brand a couple years ago when I was shopping for a ski boat, and ran across a 202CS which was their venture into tournament skiing (they bought the old Hydrodyne molds). Very rare. But the local Cobalt dealer was knowledgable about them and I also learned they used to make up to 40’ boats (they had a A40 there). I can see something like you’ve got in our future if we tire of the ski boats (or the kids move out).

Thanks Greg. Our needs or boating lifestyles can change so why not change boats as a result? Do what's right for you and enjoy!

I’ve kind of always felt that Cobalts are the boat Searay wants everyone to think they are. That and maybe Formula

Nice looking setup

Nice! Nothing against the SeaRays I’ve owned, but I love my Cobalt.
I've always liked SeaRays and find that for the Great Lakes Region it's the preferred make. That being said, I have had other boats too (Doral, Wellcraft and Formula). All manufacturers have their good and bad including particular production years/designs. Liking a boat's layout isn't enough on its own to pull the trigger. Fortunately there are enough owners out there to give you a fairly good assessment of the build quality for any specific manufacturer/model. Loving it so far!

Just sold my boat.
First time in 50 years that we are boat less.
Now that I am 78 with a bad back will remain so.
I didn't like being boatless at all. Just didn't feel right. That being said, if it hurts to go boating - I'd say listen to your body! Hope you find relief for that back.

Thanks for the comment Nick.

We don't see a lot of them in our area either, but I've never shied away from making my own path. So many little design issues that actually make sense continue to impress me as I get to know this boat.

Interesting comment and thanks! Brand recognition is a powerful thing and SeaRay is definitely on top. However, the 293's layout was the first thing that grabbed my attention. It just fit our needs. Next was the job of researching the company's history, what their build process was for the time of manufacturing, and specific options on the boat for sale. Never specifically shopped for a Cobalt or even knew of this model until seeing a for sale posting. There were a few out there, but none as well appointed or with the choice of power plants this one presented!
