Sold the 01 340 sundancer and need advice on my next purchase (go bigger or go home)

Well after going through a great survey yesterday and only having 4 items on the survey to deal with. I can start looking for our next step up.

I loved my 01 340. great boat for the lake. We are on a smaller lake that is land locked. We are out there every weekend with our friends. It is usually just myself, the wife and every other weekend we have my son. 90% of our friends have house boats. I for my life can't bring myself to buy a house boat. it is like having a trailer on the water. We need more room for our junk and more room for entertaining. We have to have two closed off rooms and plenty storage.

A few months ago we looked at an 01 Cruiser Yachts 3750 Aft cab. My wife fell in love. I have always been a Sea Ray cruiser guy. I like the idea of the room in the aft cab. I also think I like the 400 and 410 Sundancer. I am trying to figure out the difference between the express and the sundancer. Not sure what the pros and cons are. I also really like the 97 420 Sea Ray Aft Cab. I think the 380 may be a bit small. My wife has to see a big difference between the 340 I just sold and our next boat as far as the room goes. I was after a 98 or 99 450 sundancer with all the goodies until I was told that the salon is really screwed up as far as the entertaining area goes. That took the wind out of my sails. I am also in Nashville TN. So what ever I buy, will have to be shipped. The cost of shipping a an aft cab is probably going to be from 8 to 10k. A cruiser should be around 3-4k

The price range is between 100k and 130k for the right boat. I would really like to hear opinions of different boats and the advantages and disadvantages to them. Things to stay away from and things to gravitate toward. I am also looking for a real good deal on a real ood boat. A friend of mine just bought a 97 420 AC and it has the gas engines....I suppose your on Old Hickory? Gas engines will be fine there especially if you plan to keep her. It will effect resale though. That one of his sucks to operate sometimes. Diesels would have been alot better but on small rivers and lakes would be ok. The 450 is an awesome boat. Maybe look at some of the Carver 370 aft cabins as well. Check out yachtsouth.com they have several for sale and are not that great of a distance. Good luck with your serch. Given the chance what you sold is what I am aiming for. LOVE that boat if not an 2003 up 390.

If I were you, and having an '01 340, I understand... I am not on a lake, so I will have to adjust... I would look at a 380 AC or a 420 AC... There are some very good deals out there and you will make your wife happy...

Sure, she brought 75k and the buyer paid shipping and a bottom paint job. It was a salt water boat before I got her. It is a very nice clean boat with 450 hours. 2 year old canvas and isinglass, gel coat was like new, interior was real clean and everything works. I also sold it through a broker that charged me nothing and my next boat will show this one as a trade. That saves about 5k in taxes on the next one.
