Guys,

I have read through most of the threads and cant seem to find the answer to my problem.

My Sirius will not work. It just says "updating" on the screen. I have Clarion CMD4A. It worked fine last year. I have been on the phone with sirius, unplugged the cnet cables, reset the radio, dissconected power to the radio, nothing seems to work. It did the same thing last year but once I unplugged the cnet cable it reset and worked fine. I am in a wide open area tried a spare antenna, still just says "updating" Am I missing something? Need my tunes...

Did you try unplugging the antenna cable and disconnecting the power from the unit? I think I had a similar issue and that solved it. (at least its worth a try).

I had the same issue last year. I unplugged everything including the amp and antenna. all with the batteries off. replugged and was good to go

Good Luck. BTW Sirius support was no help at all.

XM sirius all stink. did you get the new tax???? I shut 4 radios off in protest!! They can all go to *ell with the greed. Not the money but thay raised the prices once and now we get the new fees

Turning the power off and pulling the antenna plug should set the stage for rebooting it once you reconnect the antenna and power. Ours has worked flawlessly this year but you never know when it will go into "Linking............" mode. Agree that support is frustrating at Sirius. This does not appear to be a very well run company.

I have Sirus problem too. In the begining of the season everything worked well. Now I can only get a few Sirus channels. This all started AFTER I replaced the batteries. I wonder if this could have something to do with it?? Does the radio need to be re-booted?

Lost signal on mine so then I went to the web site and had it send signal again and all worked. However, I believe you need to have the radio on before sending the reboot signal again. On a boat you could call in and have it resent.

cust dis service at sirius
very frustrating

Tried everything, reset the radio, and plugged in a portable Sirius radio to check the antenna (which is fine) unplugged all cords to the radio and Sirius box, disconnected power supply to the radio. It still says "updating". I do not know what else to do. I guess I will call Clarion and see if they have any suggestions.

Yes. I had to do this one time in the last 6 years. Unfortunately, you end up in a telephone tree for a long time unless you repeat "talk to person" every time they ask you to respond in a certain way. Usually after 2 or 3 "talk to person" comments a person comes on the line. Unfortunately, their "engresh" is usually so bad they are tough to understand. They will resend packets of info and this did fix the problem when I had it.

Thanks this is driving me nuts. Has anyone ever done a factory reset on a cmd4 ? I can't find it in the manual.

i have this problem again. Anyone know where the amp is located?

I have multiple Sirius radios. Unknown to me recently I had a $3.95 balance due to cc expiration. They called my cell phone several times a day every day for a month from an 800 number I didn't recogonize. I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize. Finally I did. I was connected after a series of clicks to a call center in India. The operator could barely speak english. I though scam for sure when she kept asking me for a credit card number. I hung up on her and went on the Sirius website. After 10 minutes spent trying to retrieve my username and password I had the privilege of paying my overdue $3.95. The calls did stop.

Sorry for going off topic a bit, but I gave up on Sirus/XM after they made the merge and I lost my favorite channel. I've been using Pandora on my smartphone, plugged into the aux input of my boat's sound system, and couldn't be happier. The cost per year is $36.00, and unlike Sirius/XM, when it comes for renewal you can't talk them down to a lower price. Sirius/XM will do anything to keep a customer, which tells me they must be losing business to services like Pandora.

BTW, if you are interested in sound quality and a audiophile like me, you will be happy to know the bit rate on Pandora is much higher than on Sirius/XM, which uses a high compression scheme, that varies by channel. Talk channels are higher than music, but they are all too high. If you can, try Pandora. You can use it free, if you don't mind commercials, but the paid version gives you higher bit rate and no commercials. BTW, I am not an employee of the company!

Interesting on the Pandora. I just recently tried it on my tv and liked it. Then this past weekend some slip neighbors were using pandora and it sounded great. Think ill be going this direction.
