Should you buy a gun or not?

I'm curious...what do you mean by 'straight from Belgium'. Being that he never shot it was this something special he was able to commission direct from FN?

Prior to 1966 Browning manufactured all of it's shotguns in Belgium. Then they moved production to Japan. He actually never fired it because he found that he did not like the high receiver. That and he also quit hunting. He ordered the gun from Browning and they didn't have any stock so they assigned him a gun that was in production. Somewhere I have paperwork on the build, but it was not custom. It is a special gun, worth more than a modern day A 12 because the barrel is stamped with "made in Belgium".

I have a Browning hi-power bought new in 93. Says on the slide, Morgan, Utah & Quebec.
On the other side says Made in Belgium assembled in Portugal.

Browning is, and has been, a company that relies on third party manufacturers to build the firearms they sell. In the early part of the twentieth century Browning manufactured their guns through a company in Belgium, and imported them here, as well as other countries. The first over/under, or superposed, shotgun, also one of John M Browning’s inventions was first manufactured in Belgium. I also think the A5 made a Belgian debut as well. Today Browning shotguns are built in Japan by Mirakou.

Yes FN in Belgium made them for many years. I've got a few 'made in Belgium'. I was wondering if it might have been something from their custom shop when he used the phrase 'straight from Belgium' and was never shot.

I own a few.

Ex- next door neighbor lady is black. Has four kids and is a cop. She always cracked me up when she was in uniform. Never would have figured it if you saw her dressed as a civilian. One of the best neighbors we've had. Miss her and the kids.

Cool...but the subject is guns.

Yes...
I own a few and so did the Ex neighbor.

"So my question to you is this: Since we can't seem to come up with solutions on how to stop these criminals from victimizing us, how do you feel about owning/buying a firearm to protect yourself and those around you?"

That's the question that started this thread, if you read it you'll know how everyone feels.;)

I guess not really on point, but I realized right before COVID that my Firearms acquisition and possession license had expired about 2 years earlier. I guess I had not changed my registered address with them and so never got the reminder. I haven't used the guns in a few years so didn't need to buy ammunition so never thought about it expiring.

Anyway, despite having and renewing my "outdoors" card that would allow me to buy a hunting license (which means I have had a firearms license) every year for as many years as they existed, I have to retake the Firearms safety course and the restricted firearms course. I think I originally took it in the late 1970s. With COVID all the courses got backlogged, so I was only able to finally book about 4 months ago, and I am taking it two weeks from now.
Gotta admit, even with some of Michigans’ dumb @$$ rules, it’s nice to live in a free country.

Well said,...Hawk
If you want to see what happens to people in a country where guns are taken away, just look at socialist Australia! Crime running wild and ordinary people unable to protect themselves.
The most powerful deterrent to crime (a criminal) is he/she wondering if the person I'm about to commit a crime against has a concealed gun! In Australia the criminals don't need to worry about that,.....so them committing the crime is MORE likely. Why liberals don't understand that I can't understand.
I live in the hills of Upstate SC, everyone carries here and criminals know that,.....that's why our crime rate is SO LOW. GET IT? The liberals DON'T
My Father always said......"FEAR THE GOVERNMENT THAT FEARS YOUR GUNS"
Firearms give the the people power,.....the Democrats / socialists / Communists that are in power now want to take our guns because they want to take that power away from the people, it's that simple.

In Toronto the police force tried paying for guns turned in. A very sweet gesture to help fund the criminals to refresh their arsenal.

My dad loved these buy back programs, as a gunsmith he would end up with some junk guns every year. When the local PD would do these buybacks he would dump them and get paid to do so.

Problem is, the gangs can't shoot straight. But they are expanding their territory.
Not many people know it, but gangs send their members into the military quite often to get trained. While I was stationed on Camp Pendleton a banger scumbag stationed at the Wing walked in and killed the XO and shot the CO. I can't remember how he managed to not leave the building aerated.
It's not always prison where they get their Masters from...

Look at the cities with the highest crime rates then look at the cities with the strictest gun laws

Not saying if I have guns or not, but I built this on my property just in case.

Nice, but depending where your property extends to, you need higher backstops. That dirt is only gonna catch your misses low.

You can't see it from the picture, but it actually catches the bullets and there is a several story hill behind the back stops. No bullets leaving my property...I leave that for the citidiots with cabins up here.

Yup, it was a .22LR not a .22Mag. Thanks for catching that.
Smith_and_Wesson_Model_41_-_1972.jpg

From Wikipedia...
In August 1963, the 5-inch heavy barrel version came into the market. Stoeger's Shooter's Bible of 1964 shows a 7+3⁄8-inch (190 mm) barrel grooved for Olympic center weights. The cocking indicator and 7+3⁄8-inch barrel were dropped in 1978. The 7-inch (180 mm) barrel was introduced in 1978 with no provision for a muzzle brake. A 6-inch (150 mm) barrel was offered for a few months in 1991. In 1992, the Model 41 was dropped from production. In 1994, Smith & Wesson returned it to production as the Model 41 (New Model).[3]

Mine was the 7 3/8" that I bought in ~1972-73. It was a great shooting gun. I only shot it a handful of times because I wanted to keep it in pristine condition. My son has it now.

P.S. I found a photo of the 7 3/8" barrel. This is what mine looked like.

If your son ever wants to part with the Mod 41 I know someone that's interested;)
Mine is the 7" barrel bought in '80 or '81. These are my favorites, both tac drivers, the single action Ruger is what I started the kids with.

I just heard the Fed is assembling a national database of 49m gun owners. Secretly.

ATF tracking gun transactions. They want a 100% registration list which is the predecessor to confiscation.

Another reason I won’t get a CCL.

49m or firearm and you were corrected?

If you don't own a gun(s), you are in the minority... so to the OP's question, Yes, you should buy a gun.

I might own a few...
