I'm considering purchasing an 02' Sundancer 340. What should I look for or be concerned about?

Get the maintenance records and see it the engines and the exhaust systems were replaced... My '01 had a long and short block and the new exhaust retrofit... I would do compression checks on the genny and engines... I would recommend getting a survey as well...

The economy must be coming back! Lot's of potential purchases lately, which is great! I would second the opinion of getting a survey. Unless you are mechanically well inclined to do it yourself. I would also do a search here for the exhaust modification/upgrade. Lot's of talk about that. Good luck and keep us posted.

Depends how much and what the condition is. What engines are in this boat? Some models had water intrusion problems. Post some more info and you will get plenty of help...

I will definately get a survey done. The boat has 8.1 S engines. I have not heard anythine about exhaust issues. What's that all about?

Early Model 8.1L had exhaust leak problems with the stainless risers. 1991 thur 1993. Since then its a FINE running machine and one of Mercruisers BEST engines.

So good...I got TWO OF EM'.

Based on published figures in January 2002, the engine delivers more horsepower and torque than any gasoline engine in the heavy-duty pickup market.

After extensive analysis of competitors' engines, the 8.1L development team set a goal of 200,000 miles of useful life without major repairs--and then achieved it. The engine has been tested and validated to meet this 200,000-mile durability standard. Before it was ready for production, the 8.1L had to pass the ``Marine Dock'' test, in which it is run at full throttle for 300 consecutive hours, and a minimum of 1000 hours at full-throttle operation
