OK, im going to finish sanding the drive,I was wondering when I paint,,what should I avoid getting paint on or in?
I see around the bottom carier bearing has a inner ring and some holes, would I do harm if I get some over spray in there?
Also im concered about the water intake holes,Im going to try to avoide getting paint inside there,,but will it do me harm if I do?
Any other tips or things to watch out for Please let me know.
Thanks

I've done several bravo drives and here is what I tape off.

1.All bolt/nut heads. Not a joy to remove those nuts with paint on the threads.Plus it looks worlds better if the nuts are shiny and not black.
2.The decals if I'm not removing and replacing them.
3.The bearing carrier assembly(what you are asking about).I tape up to the housing of the drive itself. You'll see the 1/2" lip the front prop goes over.I tape from there back. There is a oil seal right in front of that and you don't want to get paint on that.I also tape up the whole shaft.
4.I tape off all the holes on the backside of the upper part of the drive. To protect all those mounting seals that go to the transom assembly.

I have never had a an issue with painting the water intake holes..They are huge.

What about the trim cylinders? It looks like there is just a but on each side,Is it just that easy to remove so I can paint under it,,and the cylinder as well? Or is it going to extend when I remove it,and I'll have trouble getting it back on?

Once the cylinder is off the drive it will remain in the same position unless the trim switch is bumped. If you paint the cylinders, make sure they are retracted all the way to avoid getting paint on the rod that returns into the cylinder body. Avoid globbing a heavy coat around the rod seal, and make sure you stick an annode bolts into the threaded holes before you you dust the end cap with paint.
