Shipping a 450

Would you do all the work again or hire it out next time? Cost vs. time valuation?

MM
I would do it again myself without question, but it would go much faster. Doing it myself gives me piece of mind that it is done right.

This spring the boat was new to me and I had to figure out how everything came apart. Now I know how everything works so it might be 4 hours, maybe 6.

We purchased in Pensacola Beach and moved her to Lake Lanier, Ga also. We had a great seller’s broker that had previously worked for MM. When I asked about breakdown, he recommended a guy that had been the Service Mgr at MM when he had worked there. His experience proved invaluable. Breakdown was about $4500 with every wire numbered and tagged. All wires were unplugged and only one was cut-manual fire extinguisher discharge. Transport was $4200 and reassemble was about $4000. After reassemble, everything worked just as before. Things came out perfect. Here is a pic leaving the shipyard in Pensacola Beach. The arch with the laced tops in place was placed in a wooden frame and tied down on the bow.

Exhaust was under the truck so no soot, no grease, no dirt, nothing. It would not have been cleaner had it been shrink wrapped. Chris Holmes of US Boat Haulers is the best!

I’m not ruling out GL boats, that would be my obvious choice of course. However, I’m not limiting my choices to them either. I really just want to find what my family likes and go from there. Worst case scenario I have to ship one. I figure southern FL would be the average distance.
I have a very nice 1996 450DA With the 3126 420hp cats . Just under a 1000 hrs. Just had brand new camper canvas along with all the other canvas replaced with a cockpit cover to match. Boat runs perfect. Ray 443-824-2152 Were moving up to a 580 Bride

In my opinion, there are a number of boat shipping service providers which you can look around for. But make sure that you ought to go with the certified and experience holder team to ensure the proper safety and well-being of the boat. While surfing the internet last night, I came to know about one of the professional transportation service providers through a useful reference which reveals out the different services provided by the expert team. Even, there were many positive online quotes about the service provider. I think you must try them once if you have not shipped your boat till now or else can go with them in future if you ever came across the same situation. Good luck.

Do you have a link to a listing or some pics you can share. you can P.M. me for an email address if that would work better for you. Thanks,

Does anyone have any recommendations for a boat mover. I’m just trying to get and idea what shipping a 450 would cost from as far as FL to Ohio.
Did you find a shipper? Last spring I moved my 450 from Ft. Lauderdale to Detroit. I believe it was around $12,000 not including the removal of electronics. They did not have to take the Pods off. The photo in my screen name is the shipper. If you still need info just holler and I can get you more info from my experience. Cheers, Brad
