Shipping a 450

Does anyone have any recommendations for a boat mover. I’m just trying to get and idea what shipping a 450 would cost from as far as FL to Ohio.
 
My move was LA to Tacoma 11+ years ago @ $7k. I went out and got 3 bids and researched the companies heavily to make sure that wasn't going to be any issues at the ending destination.

Of the 6 times that I have hauled a larger boat -
C & J Transport is by far the best experience that I have had. They moved my 460 from Lake Erie to Austin, TX

Cool pic. Was the removal of the electronics off the arch included in that?

Surprised you are looking at a Florida boat when there are 450’s available on the Great Lakes. These boats have been in winter storage half their lives.

No, the broker had a couple rec's for yacht services and we picked one. Everything dismantled and stowed below in moving blankets. We hit an almost perfect weather window and in 4-6 hours the helm & cockpit were spanky clean again.
 
I moved my 410 from Tarpon Springs FL to lake Lanier GA, a distance of 510 miles. Transport was $3800 so about $7.50 per mile. The radar arch had to be stripped, the props removed, but the rudders left in place. With the lift and stripping the arch, it was another $1k (had props and bottom pressure washed). With a 1 way lift on the other end, a little over $5k.

I think $7-$10 a mile will get you in the ballpark.

One thing I did not do and wish I had was have the boat shrink wrapped. Truck lost a wheel bearing on the way up and I'm still trying to get it out of the non slip.

I’m not ruling out GL boats, that would be my obvious choice of course. However, I’m not limiting my choices to them either. I really just want to find what my family likes and go from there. Worst case scenario I have to ship one. I figure southern FL would be the average distance.

Sure, shrink wrap would be an excellent idea. When we trailered the 270 it got greasy just from passing the trucks, much less behind one all the way.

We did rule out saltwater boats as several area friends have had unusual issues related to corrosion we just do not normally see. You cannot get all the salt out, particularly wiring.

Please, no disrespect to those in a salt environment, I get that salt is a daily part of those regions boating, but it is not in our region so why deal with it?

So my stepdad moves boats by water I'll send you his contact if you like licences captain with over 40 years at the helm not sure on pricing
 
Another recommendation for C&J Transport. They moved my 400DA from Ft. Lauderdale to Chicago this spring. Jim was great through the whole process - really good communication, helped me think through everything. Highly recommended.

I did all of the prep myself, except for pulling the props (I wasn't on site for the haulout). I didn't put any covers on because if they come loose they can tear the boat to hell. I taped down plastic really tight over the dash and steering wheel, and taped up the canvas supports really tight so they didn't move at all. I used shrink wrap tape over the cabin door to keep water out. I had to pull everything down off the arch but left the arch up. 3 full days of work by myself, but I didn't know the boat so it took longer than it would for me now.

The boat needed a good cleaning when it arrived, but absolutely no damage.

Oh, and if you have to pull your radar, DON'T cut the cable. There is a way to do it - see my other post or I can share it.
