I'm wondering what an estimated shipping cost would be to move a boat from Michigan to lake Champlain (700 miles). I'm thinking of maybe a late 80's 270DA and they seem to be limited in Champlain but there are quite a few on lake Erie. Just wondering if it would be worth to consider shipping one.

Contact Blue Lagoon Marina in Harrison Twp, MI. They ship boats and may have what your looking for for sale. They have a website. Just google them.

Have a good day.

Give Shaun, (Lucky on the Offical 80's site) he just had his 300 shipped to Fl from MI.

I was getting quotes in the $1500 range to ship a 290 from the East coast to Detroit.

Is the 270 on a trailer?

A trailer is yet to be determined. It would be nice! Would a trailer help lower the shipping cost?

Probably but good tires, wheel bearings and brakes are a must for a safe haul, especially for that distance.
Wide load permits for each state towed in play a small part in the shipping cost.
A nice "take your time" road trip if you have a truck or friend with one to pull her.

Yes, the trailer would reduce the cost considerably.

Seeing that you are buying a freshwater boat and bringing it to you, the cost advantage will play in your favor.

For reference, $4200 to ship 1396 miles from MI to FL. Thought about getting a trailer but in my opinion the liability in the case of an accident and the pain of getting permits in each state was way more than enough for me to tilt the scales toward allowing the pros to do it. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck!

I'd say ballpark should be from 1500-2000.. There are a few in Michigan with a trailer so that's not outta the question either. Will a 2500hd chevy pull one of these 270's?

In comparison I just hauled ours back home to northern Michigan from Stuart, FL early last year (1670 miles). About $550 in diesel and $200 in permits.
For you Ohio is a stumbler as their permit system has insurance headaches - I avoided the state. The few grand for a delivery is probably well worth it.

2 years ago when I bought my 330DA I was getting shipping quotes on UShip in the 1500-2000 range to bring it to Ohio from Maryland (it is on a trailer). I got the needed permits thru a permit company I found at BoatUs, about 250.00 if I remember correctly and was lucky enough to have a friend offer his 3500 Dodge dually for me to use. So a long weekend and a few hundred in diesel fuel I hauled her home myself! You would have to check the gvwr of the 2500hd and see if it works out with the boat you buy, good luck!
