Shame on THIS Sea Ray Owner

I don't know...I can't help but wonder how parents can blame Zuckerburg or any of those other CEO's when they are the ones that 1.) bought the kids their devices, 2.) paid the monthly fees that enabled them to use those devices, 3.) allowed them to download the apps and 4.) probably let them spend 12 hours a day on the devices consuming that social media.

It's no different than blaming the CEO of Smith & Wesson for mass school shootings, IMO.
Couldn't agree with you more.
Yep. X10

The current generation of parents are pathetic. Anything they can do to get rid of the kids for awhile and they will do it regardless of the consequences. I blame the social media moguls and the designers of violent video games, not because they made the kids use them, but because they made them available in the first place. They are laughing all the way to the bank.

S&W builds a product that has many good, legal and moral uses. If people abuse them, it's on them, not the manufacturer. The products are distributed through registered dealers, and their purchase is highly regulated by the government. In some states (like NY) private sales are illegal, and thus ever sale must be vetted.

Social media has some good uses, but I personally believe that the bad uses outweigh the good. Also, in this case there is no government regulation. In fact it looks like the govmnt actually uses them for nefarious reasons (elections).

Just my old fart opinions.

Ultimately the parents are responsible for their kids. My kids haven't been kids for 10 years. But we managed and monitored their device usage, mirrored accounts etc. They had to surrender their phones at night unlocked. It is just basic parenting 101. I was not about to rely on a company, or God forbid, the guberment to protect my kids.

I see your side but can't make the jump. You're also blaming McDonalds for our obesity problem with this approach. I just can't get there....

My boys are a bit older. They were kids about the time when cellphones just came on the scene. We didn't let them have one. When they graduated from school and got a job, then they bought their own. The only video games in the house were Mario Brothers and Tetris.

It was hard for us to be a parent back then. Some of their friends DID have phones. A best friend got a new Porsche for his 16th birthday. However, they DID understand that they were a rich family.

OTOH, both boys got .22 rifles when they were 7. They only shot them at our camp when the family was present. At home they were locked up and inaccessible (the guns not the kids....LOL)

My side points to parental responsibility. Taking the kids to mickydees is also a parental thing.

I had a part time kid that works for me see me in the parking lot…. He was on an unauthorized smoke break…. He says can I talk to you for a minute… he says can I have the plant managers job when the current guy retires…. This is a kid with zero experience not married has a new born…. He then says but I’m going to need flexible hours because I never know when my other job will need me…. I’m staring at this guy thinking wtf?…. He then says are you working tomorrow….. he says I’m not I have some errands to run. I was like holy Phuck…… he got a verbal today from hr for smoking after he passed me 5x this morning to vape outside…. I was like get this guy in the problem solving program for dismissal to hr…. She says for what I said for being so stupid as to walk by the owner 5x

I saw both videos…. I’m not a fan of fishermen. I never do anything intentional to scare or risk harming anyone but come on …blocking a river or channel are you kidding me….. and don’t you dare hit my parked boat in a marina with a lure
North and Middle channels on LSC. So damn annoying. You have to either swamp them or go outside the markers to avoid hitting. They think they own the lake and the channels. They piss me off a lot.

I won’t lie I have been known to go by adult males fishing in the channel on plane

Fishermen, Young families out for a boatride, old fat bald guys in a gofast with a 25 year old blonde, cruisers heading for the sandbar.......everyone has a reason for being out there. No reason is more important than the other.

The problem is that EVERYONE thinks they own the river, and NO ONE has respect for the other.

If you are fishing in the middle of the channel on Sunday (the only day you don't work), go to the side.

If you are speeding down the middle and see a small craft with a young family, slow down and move over.

It used to be that we were all part of the boating fraternity. We all helped each other. It's just too bad that these days are gone!

Hope this dude is not on CSR.

One of those who gives us responsible Sea Ray Owners a really bad reputation.

GOOD REASON to carry a paint ball gun onboard.

DISPICABLE BEHAVIOR !!!

Here he is again:

Idiot, or intentional ???

BEST !

RWS

If it were just the first one, I would have cut him a little slack and called it more of a mishap than something malicious. There were at least 3 boats in a row following each other to the inlet. At the very beginning of the video you can see a cavitation bubble trail from the smaller boat's prop. He was cruising along and chopped the throttle. The knucklehead was following too close and probably not paying attention. He may have actually been surprised by that.

The second one was clearly malicious.

Unfortunately, I have witnessed events similar to both in person. There's a channel running across the entrance to my marina, and events like the first one happen at both ends of it on a regular basis. Everyone races to the entrance, and there's always one boat going through at "normal" speed or chopping the throttle like that that causes chaos behind them.
