Shade for front of Sundeck

This note is for any Sundeck or bowriders out there that have thought about buying a bit of shade for the front of your boat. I previously bought an Anchor Shade (Taylor Made) for my boat but it's broken now at the begining of year 3. It was cheap!! So I was on a business trip this week and just happened to be in a Sports Authority. I discovered a Sports-Brella there for $70 bucks and it's way better quality than the Anchor Shade. The only downside for me is the colors are blue and red which don't go well with my green and tan.

That's good find, there, Slap!

I suppose you could always take that thing to a canvas shop - have them put whatever color you want on it. Might be a bit $$ for a $70 piece of equipment, though.

How about a umbrella for a deck table that would fit into the table mount?

I have the dual bimini option. Expensive, but darn nice to have with the little one and some sun intolerant guests from time to time.

I was wondering when somebody would chime in about the front bimini? Do they make one for the smaller sundecks?

Why not put in the front table pole and put a beach umbrella inside the pole?? ...... Now that I have read all the post... looks like the third post had the same idea... Still the low cost solution...

Guess not, but any canvas shop could probably make you one cheaper than what SR would want. I believe it was a $1500 option.

There was someone on the old SRO Board who had the whole camper with front Bimini enclosure on his 240 Sundeck. Man did that look like a Conestoga wagon! :wow:  But they loved it when it came to camping out.

I have a 99 210 sundeck and it came with a front and rear Bimini. Really nice. Made by great lakes

Kurbla,

Do you have pictures? I just purchased a 2008 210 sundeck which has a good size bimini but I would like for it to extend farther forward. I don't see Great Lakes has a forward or rear bimini available for my year, or for your year either. Was this a custom order?

That's pretty close in price to what our dealer was asking for the front bimini when we bought our SD.
Last time we talked about it Kim threw a bottle of suntan lotion at me & told me to shut up. I knew then we probably weren't going to be getting the front bimini......:smt043

I'll see what I can find for a picture for ya. It was an option on that year of boat, according to the spec sheet.

Not a real good picture but you can see the layout.

Thanks for the picture. Wow that really covers the boat! Can you go WOT with the front/rear bimini up or is that just for anchor?

Not sure you're supposed to go WOT with either. I'm pretty sure Searay advises not over 30mph with the rear bimini.

Does not bother it bad with them up. They are very well built. I usually use them for lunch breaks or play with water toys when people are cooked and want shade. So probably 20 to 25 miles an hours for play. Not bad at all.

I consistently go WOT w/ the rear open. Front is a sail and I don't plane w/ it open. Had additional problems with side to side movement with the front bimini in choppy water which required some additional straps to stop the movement.
