Just thought I would introduce myself. Purchased my 290SLX last year but only just found the forum. I greatly enjoy the boat on the Peconic bay. Also wondering if anyone knows where the amps are located in the 290? I may have to replace them but wasn't sure of their location. Enjoy and be safe!

Hi Doug and Welcome !

You can download the entire parts manual for your boat at this link: http://www.searay.com/Page.aspx/pageId/10530/Parts-Manuals.aspx

Although you my not need the part number, you can likely find WHERE the amps are located. On my 250 SLX they are located in the compartment directly behind the helm. The compartment has my cooler, fuse panel and the amps. Hope this helps.

Thanks Richard,

Did a little looking but still haven't found them. I did go to the sea ray site but didn't see anything there on the amps. I'll continue to search. Thanks again.

Try lifting up the back of the port side bow seat where the tables are stored. Amp should be on the right.

Hey everyone. Just upgraded from my 2008 250 SLX to a 2012 270 SLX. So excited as we got one with plenty of bells and whistles to play with. Finally got my big block and corsa exhaust !!!! Anyone have any 270 tips ?

Since you're already familiar with the 250, you'll find it very similar, only SUPERSIZED!! LOL! We are loving our 270SLX. I only have a couple of issues with it:

1. The size of the "bimini" off the back of the arch. It is WAY too small to be of any use when you have people who want to stay out of the sun (Sometimes have older people on board). I've solved that issue by using an AnchorShade over the back. It fits perfectly, still allowing the sun to hit the sunpad, while providing shade for the seating area
2. No front connector with the arch. I think the new 270's may have some fabric on the front of the arch that would allow you to connect some kind of protection, but mine just has the fiberglass. I may look into trying to attach a channel to the arch that would allow me to slide a front connector onto the arch, but haven't done it yet.

Other than those 2 nit-picks, it is an awesome boat!! Congrats on the new boat and enjoy!!!!!

Does anyone have a cover for their 270? I have a 2011, no arch. One of the guys at the marina has a nice cover with a pocket for the spotlight, but I can't ever catch him to ask him where he got his. I need something to cover the boat while it is inside the dry storage building. Diesel soot is a major pain. I have the canvas but I fear it is getting ruined by the soot. Any ideas or anyone with good experience? I have tried the online search thing, and about 24 feet is max, and that just won't cut it. Overton's, Boat cover searches, West Marine etc. have squat.

thanks,

Jester

Contact Mike Taylor at BaldMikes.com. He sells Sharkskin and Sunbrella covers. He is a GREAT guy and will back what he sells.

You can get the same cover from eBay ($501.42) cheaper thank you can from mike. I just got a quote for my 270 SLX from mike about 2 weeks ago.

Buds1946 eBay seller. NEW WESTLAND EXACT FIT SHARKSKIN PLUS is the product. Bud's discount marine is the eBay store. Shipping is included in the price and just pick your color. Good luck and enjoy the savings.

Bald Mikes might be a good place to try. He is in the Omaha area, I crossed paths with him when searching for my boat two years ago - on Craigslist. He specialized in reselling Crownlines for a while, and seems to be branching out in some areas. Trailers initially, and now covers apparently. He seemed like a decent guy when I talked to him and exchanged a few e-mails a couple of years ago.

How did you run across him?

I learned of mike from the Crownline forums. I had a Crownline before I had the sea rays. I bought a cover from mike for Crownline. When I needed a cover for the 270 I contacted mike to check on prices and he was about $85.00 more than eBay. Seems like a real nice guy but I need to watch my pennies.

I too, know Mike from the CrownieHQ forum. I've bought some trailer stuff from him for my Crownline, but no covers. I know several people who have bought covers (among other things) from him and all have been very satisfied with the purchase.

Hello all, I am new to the forum. I just purchased a used 2008 SLX 270 that has very low hours and is in amazing shape. While bringing it home(long trip) the carpet must have been flapping and is now torn around all of the snaps. It was one of those "Duh" moments, should have taken them out of the boat. The one that is torn, and beyond repair, is the main piece that covers the bulk of the cockpit. I was hoping someone here may have an idea of the best way to get a replacement carpet without having to purchase the entire set? Is the only place to get this from Sea Ray? And if so do you go thru a dealer?

Also looking to add the front sun shade which I have seen attached to arch on the newer models. Does this come in a kit from Sea Ray? Or is it best to have it custom built by a marine t-top manufacturer? Any ideas would be much appreciated.
