Select EX Thread

Just went by the marina to check on things, since this is the first nice day in probably about a week or so. The torrential rain has delayed things a bit, but that's okay. We're getting there! Looks like the outdrive is being attached, etc. Hoping to take a maiden voyage tomorrow!

My boat should be recommissioned this week. My son and I will be at the lake next weekend for a soccer tournament that's about 30 minutes from our condo. If it's nice, we should be able to sneek in a run between games.

Tim-

Sounds good. We're finally in and it feels great! If the weather cooperates tomorrow, we plan on heading out!

Finally took delivery of my new 270 select! Though weather hasn't been too nice or warm enough to get out on it. But I must say, sitting on the patio of our lake house looking out at that new Select sure is nice! Looking forward to warmer weather!

Congratulations. Love the color:grin:. Here's to hoping for clear skies and warm weather.

Patheticly, this weekend will be our first time out. I literally haven't seen our boat since September. Can't wait to get out.

Anybody going anywhere good this weekend?

I got a quote on service, does this sound right?

Change engine oil.

Remove outdrive, check/fix alignment, change gear lube and grease all fittings.

Replace impeller.

Replace fuel filter.

Total cost: $818.00 plus tax.

I have a "creak" in the deck in the bow of the boat. When someone walks into the bow it sounds like a loose floor board. Almost like the deck is rubbing against the hull. Anybody else experience this?

what about the part where the table plugs into the floor, maybe it needs to be lubed/sealed?

does it still creak if someone is sitting in either of the front seats?

Hello. I just joined the club. I just purchased an 07 250 slx 496 Bravo III and I have some questions and comments that I hope someone can help with. The previous owner did not treat the boat like I would so I almost feel like I rescued the girl. It has 110 hours on it and some things I've noticed is the upholstery seems to tear easily. I've had one cushion repaired by a professional but this wkend had another tear on the seat/step removable cushion. Are any of you having this problem. I've also noticed last time I was out the boat leaned heavily to the starboard side and I tried to correct with the trim tabs and it did nothing. ( I forgot to check to see if my tabs were working correctly when I left the boat on Sunday) I don't think I should have to use the trim tabs to correct this problem if I have the weight evenly distributed in the boat. I've owned many boats and never had this problem. After my purchase and before I took the boat out I removed the props and had them reconditioned and I reinstalled them by aligning the the lettering on each prop. Could I have not installed them properly. I love the boat but I sure need to correct these problems. Any help?

If your not sure your trim tabs are working check them first, maybe the port tab is down. The B3 props are counter rotating so that should have nothing to do with it.

1. cushions, had several replaced under warranty. the way sea ray designed some of the hinges and cushions is real stupid.

2. trim tabs, my boat does the same thing and i use the tabs to flatten out the ride. but i'm also running a total of 6 batteries. i've replaced the bolts on both tabs... again, no clue why sea ray doesn't use loctite!

3. props, i'll look on saturday how mine are installed.

1. Never had an issue with the cushions but I have a tendency to be anal about how people treat my boat.

2. If the weight is evenly distributed, I do not need to use the tabs for balance. First thing I did when I got our boat was to have the dealer install an auto trim tab retraction system so whenever I turn off the ignition, the tabs retract. However if a tab is broke or stuck in the down position, it would certainly cause your issue.

3. Not sure on the prop. A local MercCruiser dealer should be able to tell you if there is a special procedure for alignment.

Wow, thanks guys for your quick response. Great to know I can get feedback from a family of boaters with the same interests and willing to help.
I contacted Mercruiser about the props and they said that there is no "timing" to the props. In other words there is no particular alignment between the 2 props. So I'm guessing something going on with the trim tabs.
I'll check it out on Sat. and post what I find.
Thanks again.

Ok. It was a blown trim tab fuse and the port trim tab was was down which made the boat list to one side.
I must of held the trim tab button down too long trying to adjust the boat last weekend in very rough waters on the way back from Aquapoolooza.
I love those quick and cheap fixes.

Hey! Where are you on Lake Travis? I have a 2007 250 SLX at Sandy Creek Yacht Club, next to Cafe Blue. I have not had any problems with the upholstery, but I do have a few other issues presently... oil leak, trim indicator gauge is not working properly, fuses blow all the time, System Fault error shows up on the SmartCraft LCD, bilge pump short, amplifier fuses being blown, trim tab fuses blow often, etc... I think I have electrical issues. I tried to chase down the electrical problem, but cannot find it. Where do you have yours serviced?

I'm at the Hollows Northshore right across Sandy Creek from you. I keep my boat at the Marina there and I can see your marina from my condo. We need to hook up. I've heard good things about Cafe Blue but I just got our boat and I'm not comfortable enough to take her out at night. I'm working out the kinks. This weekend my ignition starting acting up so I've ordered an new keyed ignition and it should be in before the wkend if so I will come up from Sugar Land. My boat runs great but little things have been popping up. I've only put 6 hours on her since I got her. The ignition started doing weird things. Turning the key to start, the engine would start and shut off as soon as I released the key. If I hold the key to start it keeps running. If I go to second position and leave in there for about 5 seconds it starts by itself and stays running so I had a mechanic come to my slip on Sat. and he confirmed it should be the ignition switch. Has anybody had this problem?
