seat cushions flying out on 205

Wondering if someone has had this problem. While towing my 205 down the highway we had one of the back seat cushions fly out. I was following my wife and stopped and picked it up and wasnt any damage except some scuffs on the underside. We have the full bench seat, which is really 2 cushions. They just sit in there with no real way to secure them down. Has anyone had this happen and what did you do about it. The last few times we took them off and layed them out under each console, but now we cant put anything in the storage space under those seats without fear of losing what was in there. :smt100

One solution would be to put your cover on prior to towing. We also have members that have stiched a strap and button to the cushion to attach it to the boat. Another option would be long velcro strips on the underside but they still could lift out.

Best two options from me would be to trailer with your cover on the boat or remove the cushions and place in the truck.

Thanks for your reply Wesley. Im trying to figure out how to do the snaps, that seems my best option. I hate taking the cushions off and dont really want to put the cover on. I know some put it on and some say not to do it, so I was just trying to get away from that altogether. I cant figure out why they made it this way and wonder if Im the only one with this problem.

Our 330 cushions snap in. There is a strap about 3" long under the cushion with one end of the snap and then the other end is attached to the fiberglass. Each cushion has 5-10 of these snaps.

I'll be heading out in a few hours to get the snaps and supplies. Now why didnt SR think of that lol. Also doing a couple of other small mods, lots of good info here, just helps me spend my money

I installed a rubber latch for the rear seat the covers the motor. It would on a good bounce pop up and catch some air and stick open. In later models SR came up with a rubber stopper latch on the inside. I am sure if you send them a nice letter with pictures of your modifications they might send you a letter of appreciation along with a bonus for coming up with such a good idea they had not thought of before. You know how engineers are, they always like being told they could improve something. :smt043

LOL Im sure they would just love that

I'll figure something out with the snaps and try to post pics of how it came out and works.

I think I would travel with the travel cover on. I would hate to be down because of a broken windshield. It would be my luck that a rock would come up and hit the windshield. Summer time and you are trying to get a windshield and getting a mechanic to work on it when you really need it. Time is money, and money I do not have.

What kind of cover will keep a rock from breaking a windshield?

All I have at the moment is a snap on cover and that doesnt cover the windshield. Anyways, I bought a snap kit and tool today and some strapping, plan on doing the mods tommorrow and also adding a depth finder.

I tow mine with the full canvas cover on it. I couldn't imagine towing it anywhere without it. The road grime that gets flipped up behind a vehicle can be nasty, and even from wet roads and passing semi's going the other way.

This keeps all of the internal stuff well intact - no seat cushions flying out, etc.

It's worth the investment to protect it, at least IMHO.

Lots of '08 205-ers recently!

We should start a revoluti...I mean a thread with just 205's in the sport boat area. I would but am not allowed to start any new threads for a while.

Id love to see specific mods and pics.

Oh, on topic: My back seats started to come out one day at wot with some headwind. Never happened since.
