The boat will be pulled out soon. The next couple weeks weather looks to be wet and cool fall weather. I also have a couple big projects to get done in between the rainy days so this is it. This season was short and not the best weather that's for sure. We took long weekends every week but one, but on a few of them we never left the dock due to wind or rain. The grandkids did seem to have just as much fun though, even when swimming in some pretty cold water.

That reminds me of last Christmas. I rented a place in FL with a pool. My kids, grandkids, and sister stayed the week with us. The kids were happy they would be able to swim laps during vacation. We get there and the pool heat wasn't working. It took a couple days to get a part. When the pool people showed up they were all bundled up in winter jackets over hoodies...my grandkids were in the pool swimming. The pool guy checked the water temp and said 'it's only 58F' and then pointed at the kids...I said 'were from north WI and they swim in Lake Superior':smt043

That's not unusual in the winter here at all:) you can always tell the snowbirds. They are in summer gear while we are all wrapped up....they always say you have thinner blood down here if you stay long enough:)

Short year for us too. Admiral says it's time to winterize. Waters too cold to swim in this year and no sun means Admiral was unhappy. May hold out for another couple weeks just in case but getting the house ready for winter will be priority.

We'll be pulling out at the end of September, a month or so early. Ours is a happy reason though as we are headed to the French Polynesian Islands in Early October. :)

I hope to last out till Dec 15th or so but the canvas will be going back on Oct 1st. 80's today with 70's later this week, river is already getting cold

Ready to get stored in mid September. Very cool water temperature this summer.

Winterizing on the 20th of this month. It has been a tough year and Lake Michigan never did warm up much past the low 70's which the dog thought was just perfect...me not so much. Lots of rain and North wind that kept the waves beyond my comfort level for the 260DA. In a couple of months when the portable generator threads heat up I will be starting to get anxious for Spring again. Hope you all had a great season where ever you are.

All this talk of winterizing is depressing beyond belief. Move.

We swim from early April to mid October. And of course never winterize.

I know. I'm spoiled. I just feel sorry that you guys can't use the boat longer.

Pete

I'm pulling my boat next week, having the marina power wash the bottom, and then put her back in for our 1600 mile trip to our new home in Florida...anyone need some antifreeze...I'll never use it again!

We still have boating season ahead of us. Now that the weekend warriors are gone, its really nice on the lake. This past weekend I was able to head out a couple times to just sit and float and really enjoyed the peace and quiet.

BNut the Admiral is starting her projects on the dock. New cabinets going in, granite picked out, she is excited. It'll eventually get cold, but some of us hard core types will come up to the boat a lot! Having grown up in the Northern Indiana, I know the pain of a short lived boating season. We would already have the boat in the garage and pullng the pier out by now. In a couple weeks, the cottage would have been buttoned up for the year.

The Christmas Trees are starting to appear in the retail stores so that must mean boating in Chicago is coming to a end shortly. Nearly over, but we'll have a few more cool weekends ahead of us in Chicago on the new boat. Heading back to Holland, MI for winter storage in early October 3rd with an overnight stop in Saugatuck for one last night on the boat. Many projects ahead for the off season and before you know it, we'll be back on the water.

Over for me too... pulling out this Sunday :smt089

Lake is down 5 feet already... the Corp is letting it out for Gauley season :smt021

It won't be a season-ending event, but I'm having the boat hauled next week (I hope). I found some skinny water a couple of weeks ago and need to have a prop repaired. I don't know how bad it is and won't until the boat is on the hard. There's a significant vibration now so we'll pull the props and take both of 'em in to be tuned up.

While it's out of the water I'm going to give her two coats of bottom paint and wax the hull below the water line. That ought to keep me out of trouble for a couple of weeks.

Sorry, I had to....

I don't have a problem with our weather.... it's just that they're dumping our water at a rate of 5' per week!
