searay pachanga 27 twin screw bogging... help!!

hello everyone im justin, im new to the club and just have a couple questions... i have a 1991 pachanga 27 with twin 350 mags, 245 hours... if im crusing at 40 mph and dump the throttles i always get a bog or hesitation..is this usual and also i can only get 52 mph fully trimmed. i thought i should get a little more.. im running mirage quicksilver 23p . rpms at full throttle is starboard 4800 and port 4300 .. any info or suggestion would be great thankyou very much are low 50's max for this boat? i am doing a tune up, plugs, wires , cap and rotor this weekend anything else i should look at?

I don't know what elevation your running at but 52 sounds about right for a fairly heavy boat

With twin 350s that sounds about right. I had a 24 Sorrento with a 350 and a 21 pitch turbo prop I could get 51 from , but your pachanga is much heavier and with 350 won't see much more , now build them puppies up!!! Maybe to 400 hp each sh'll move at close to 60

Your hesitation when hitting the throttles sounds like a carb/fuel issue. Have they ever been rebuilt?
The internal mechanical pumps in them may be worn out.

i just bought the boat not sure if they have ever been rebuilt a friend said the same thing i will look into the carbs thankyou

Very nice boat. This looks like a P-27 that I looked at last summer. Did you purchase this boat from a broker in northern-central NJ (Iron Mart).

If you endup building up the motors you want to be cautious of how much power you put to those alpha drives.

Should run 60 all day. My single 27 with a 468 Big block runs 58-60

I have same setup as the OP and the best I have seen is 52-53 with about 1/3 of a tank of gas(I try not to run it much lower than 1/4 to 1/3 tank).

FWIW- Many years ago I was on a P27 with twin 454's, b/f GPS was on cell phonesand I think that boat did just about 60 or lower 60's in my estimation.

Check the caps and rotor. Our Formula with twin 6.2's would stumble with a bad cap and rotor. I changed them and it ran like a champ. Cheap fix to at least give it a try.

Sorry , but with twin 350's you're never going to see 60 mph , the HP to weight ratio is just to low. You're only pushing max 260hp brand new, I use to sell toa high performance boat engine builder and he said you'd have to pull those motors and build them to nearly 450hp to get into the 60mph range, a stock boat with twin 350's is a heavy *****!!! Dropping to 21 pitch props is just going to get you better out of the hole performance and more R's at top end, your best bet , tune them up , maybe a bit bigger CAM and you might see 55mph.

Why are we responding to a year old thread?

My 2 cents worth is to leave the engines bone stock, tune them so they run perfect, including the carbs if needed, buff, wax, clean and make this boat perfect. This boat is the best model Pachanga Sea Ray ever built. Just make the best original boat you can and you will be the envy of everyone on the water around you.

Accelerator pumps on the carbs need replaced.......see you on the river!

Do you know the OP and if so, is that what was needed?
