Hey All,

I did a search and came up empty. Being new to boating and new to SeaRay I am a bit confused with all the different models. I thought maybe with all the experienced members here this would be a good place to ask. How about a list of the different models with descriptions and differences, good and bad points. I couldn't even find this info on the SeaRay site. Anyway, if this takes off maybe Jim or the mods could compile it all into a single sticky post. I personally would find it extremely useful. Thanks in advance...

that would be quite the posting ... check out the Searay site first to get a good baseline on models. They have tons of info on each model ...

There are four basic type of models (more if you go into the older boats but here is their current lineup)

Sport Boats (17ft to 29 ft) These include the Sport, Select, Sundeck, Weekender, and the Sun Sport

http://www.searay.com/sport_boats.asp

Sport Cruisers (24ft to 34 ft) These include the Sundancers, and Amberjacks.

http://www.searay.com/sport_cruisers.asp

Sport Yachts (36ft to 48ft) These include Sedan Bridge and Sundancers, and Motor Yacht

http://www.searay.com/sport_yachts.asp

Yachts (50ft and up) These include Sedan Bridge and Sundancer

http://www.searay.com/yachts.asp

You will also notice people like to use initials the most common is SD for Sundeck and DA for Sundancer. There are others but most of those are understandable.

You will also want to check out boat test for video's of the boats which will help out alot with the understanding the differences between the different models

Enjoy ...... But the best way to get to know the other models is to pay attention to all of the postings on CSR, you will be amazed at how much you will learn just by reading the postings.

You need to at least come up with a basic breakdown of your use requirements.

Ski, go fast, day use only, Sport models
ski day entertaining, Sun deck models
Overnight light cruising, sundancer models
Fishing Amberjack Models
Longer range cruising Motor Yacth models.

This is a very light break down You really do need to goto the web site and read about the individual features and then figure out what do you want to do and what is the most you can spend. Never go to small you will regret it. You may be able to attend a local Marinemax getaway so that you can see and possibly try some of the boats.

basically, there are open bow boats (sport boats), cabin boats (sundancers), and raised bridge boats (sedan bridge or express bridge).

there are a few that try to be more than one, like

-weekenders are in between sport boats and sundancers. sporty, with an area to get out of the sun, but not enough accomodations for extended cruising

- amberjacks - sundancers that trade some cabin space for live wells, fish boxes, and larger fuel tanks for extended range.

basically, pick a category, decide how many people you're going to carry, and that will get you into a size range. after that, go to a boat show and look at a few in person. once you get on them, it's a little easier to see the differences in the models.

Sorry for the confusing post guys... I'm not looking to buy as I already have a 07 185 Sport I am picking up in April. The above information was kinda what I was looking for. I understood the difference beween sport, cruisers, etc... I was trying to get a better understanding of the difference between models. More out of wanting to better understand the differences between them.
