Sea trial Friday on a 1989 340 DA, looking for input!

The stringers are a $10,000 job last I heard, but electrical that has been underwater has 'never ending nightmare' written all over it.

You are wise to walk and hopefully your efforts (and the investment in the survey) will be repaid one day.
I had to walk away from the first boat I fell in love with and just about died. But quite seriously, it turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to me.

Hang in there Nick

The only good thing was that he checked the stringers early and called me right away, so he's not charging me for a full survey since he spent less than an hour on the boat.

You sig doesn't show where you live but there are a lot of these for sale all over the country. None are $7000 but prices vary. I only searched for '88 & ''89 as I feel these are the best years. The master berth is huge and there is none of the fake wood in the cabin.

I know you're disappointed but I can only offer that for every boat I wanted and didn't get, I ended up with a better one. Good luck with your search.

No worrys. There are lots of nice old Sea Rays out there. You may have to pay a little more for a really nice one, but they've been real popular for a long time, and there are always really well maintained ones coming up for sale. The owners of the nice ones usually know the value of what they have, but it's worth a few extra bucks on the purchase price to get a really good one.
