I went to an in water (Sea Ray/Boston Whaler) boat show today here in Charleston, SC. None of the "salespeople" approached me. No one "captured" my information with a sign in card. I looked at every boat there. Business must be great, although it was empty, except for the salepeople watching football games...

As I have stated before. Not a good group to deal with. Any new model years? Great day for boat shopping...

You drive or float over??

They had the “we’re not going to sell a boat anyway” mentality going into the damn thing. I don’t care an ounce about the economy, if I was a HZO shareholder, I’d be pissed. The salesperson's job is to try to sell, regardless. By not requiring guest cards to be completed, they have doubly failed…jackballs.

Did they have those "SOLD" signs up when you were there? HA HA!!! How dumb do they really think people are? That 280 had reg numbers already on it. They don't even have a 280 in their stock to sell... They treat them like time share buyers. The product can and will sell itself if they were to satisfy or associate their desires to the product usually. How about some free boat rides. I'm sure that could produce a thrill that couldn't be snuffed. The harbor was flat yesterday, you could not ask for better test drive conditions...

Was it a MM event? Did they have any 'boat show pricing" posted? Did any of it look good?

Did they have a new 2010 310 on display?

I've said it many times over the years......you don't have to give a $hit but you can at least act like you give a $hit.

Sea Ray of Charleston is owned by the Hall Marine Group. They have the Sea Ray franchises in NC and SC. In my experience, good customer service is not one of their attributes. I'm not surprised that they had an attitude at the show. That was my experience with then on a new boat purchase several years ago.

I was at the Norwalk, CT in water boat show a couple weeks ago. I was in the 250 and 270 Dancers for quite a while looking and no one asked me any questions or approached me. I was surprised on how little interest any of the boat reps showed in being helpful or to inquire about my interest. Any qustions I had were answered with quick non caring responses.

My personal experience with the Lake Wylie location has been nothing but the opposite mentioned above.

I was at the Newport RI show and searay (bassett) had a good presence and a lot of salesmen working hard, lots of lookers. btw, my wife and I were not impressed with the new (50?) dancer...too many stairs everywhere..

It really was a comical display of poor sales training.
The new 310 was there, while very nice, it's not a good jump for anyone looking from a 280. It is a good first cruiser (as is a 280) but not a logical move up from the 280.
I need a little help from Beachcombersc here but there was a new 46? bridgedeck there for a show price of 900K+. A nice boat but not worth anywhere near that price. It had a 2 stateroom layout but was really in need of a 3 stateroom layout which is an option I know. The bridge was great!
As Beachcombersc already posted, the 280 that was there had a "SOLD" sign on it. It was obviously used as it already had SC regisration #'s on it and the black hull looked like every other black/blue Sea Ray,not good. I hope they sold a ton of boats and maybe they just chose not to try to sell to me. I've got my eye on a few great Formula's.

Yes, they do live just a few miles from the Lake Wylie dealership and its their original location.

It was a loaded question. I had heard that before...

I would hope they have a chance to visit this lovely city soon. Seems like they never stop in this location.... Ever!!!

Hell, I would by them dinner if the cleaned house a little...

Can I swap out your smart craft gauges to mine before you trade her in?? It won't matter too much to them!!! How about that wood dinnett??? :)

Nice boats... I used to have some fliers laying around here. Gave them to a good buddy not too long ago, I was sick of drooling on them... :) I still have a DVD somewhere... I'm sure its mixed up with some Elmo DVD or something...
