Of specific interest is the Sea Ray 390 Sedan produced 1983-1986 or the 390 Express Cruiser of that time frame. They are a deep V with 19 degress of deadrise aft and my concern is their stability at anchor. Are they going to "rock and roll" just getting aboard or is their enough mass to be pretty stable. At anchor bottom fishing are they going to make the less sea worthy fisherman sick with their motion? I have read discussions about the Bertrams and their deep V but don't know if we are comparing apples to apples.

Our boat has a 13'11" beam and is very stable. Whenever someone gets on the boat and we are downstairs, we very seldom even notice.

I do not know about the Sedan, but the E.C. is one of the most stable boat I have ever seen.
I could tell hundreds of stories of my 390 sitting nicely near Azimuts rocking so much that their owners regretted their greed for fast and way too light boats...

Assuming both boats are built on the same hull this is a no brainer. The EC will be more stable.

The Sedan Bridge will have more mass in the air raising the center of gravity. The higher the center of gravity, the easier it will be to make the boat rock.

LTD 330--Yes I had thought of that and agree--hope I could get a number of sedan owners to respond, but know there aren't too many of them out there. The EC response is a good indicator however.

Just remember that stability at anchor could not be the only concern...the 390 has a very low draft and it's sensitive to side wind...the flybridge could turn mooring into a nightmare
