Ok I have a 2002 Sea Ray 220 Sun Deck , A few times this Summer it doesn't crank right up , never failed to crank but drags a little . I ran all the Gas out & put a fresh 50 Gallons in & even added a Lil Sta-bil. ( Mercruiser Mechanic told me " NEVER put SeaFoam in ANYTHING I own ) It still does it ever so often so here's my question . Ok when you turn the key on you can hear the Fuel pump running for approx 5 seconds . I've always waited til it quit before starting , is this wrong , do you turn the key over & try to start immediately ? And am I correct in never knocking outta gear & pumping throttle ? You don't do this with fuel injection right ? Thanks for your insight

Ok then , finally found a mechanical question no one else has experienced . Gonna have to check with a professional

Sorry, didn't even SEE your original post. By drag, what do you mean? Does the actual cranking slow down and then speed back up or does it just take a while to start?
I think all fuel injected engines maintain some king of pressure in the fuel rail and there is no reason or benefit to "pumping" prior to starting like we do on the carbed engines. Most of the fuelie boats that I have driven start within 3 seconds of cranking.
