Scam of the century on Craigslist

Yesterday I was on CL looking at the boats section. Believe it or not, I came across a 2006 260DA with generator, air, low hours and a dual axle trailer for... $9,800. Knowing this was a scam, I contacted him saying I was very interested, just to see how far it would go. He replied and said the boat was in Seattle, WA. He was advertising it in Savannah, GA. I told him I would fly out and wanted a sea trial this weekend. Oddly enough, he said that I would need to wire him 50% and then he would ship it to me for free. Wow how nice. I contacted CL and they removed the posting.
 
No offense but hardly the scam of the century. More like scam by the hour. That stuff is all over craigslist. Probably makes up 10% of the listings.

Yep, so true! My boat is on there with Chuck's 240SD and I get at least 1 email asking if the boat is for sale per day that when I answer, I get spammed like crazy!:smt013

Big time ditto:smt021:smt021. Spam has gone up about 25% since I listed MS Judy.
 
That is crazy. Why can't people just be reasonable? Maybe I'm too old school. If these people would use their resources and talent for something positive, maybe, just maybe they could do something good. Stupid me, what was I thinking??
 
Happens everyday. I have mine listed on Ebay (ends in an hour if anyone is interested!!) and someone took my exact listing including pics and listed it on Craig's List for $6,800. The chick stated that she was a dealer on a cruiseship and was recently divorced and wanted to get rid of the boat quickly. Sorry, sorry people!!!
 
Thanks for the heads-up. I'm waiting on some funds to come through from Nigeria, and when that happened, I was heading right to Craigslist for some of these boats. Now I'll certainly be more careful.
 
Are you trying to tell me these are scams? I sent $20K to a guy in Europe (he is there on business) and I was supposed to take delivery of the boat tomorrow! I thought it was a great deal getting a 2006 350DA for $40K... He said if I am not happy with the boat he will pay the return shipping and refund my deposit. You are saying I was scammed? :huh:

His emails made me believe he is legit and trustworthy. The transaction was done through a shipping company that is huge so it has to be real right?
 
These were all over the car section when Iwas looking for a truck a couple months ago. He said he was in the service in Alaska and that he would ship the truck to me. Yada Yada

A buddy of mine sent me 3 or 4 different shots of her in the Superdome.
And there is another one of a different girl raising her shirt and giving a FULL FLASH:thumbsup:

My Blackberry. The good thing is I now have an extra arm so I can eat a sandwich and take pictures at the same time!
