Sandy Concerns?

Well just got off the phone with my ins company. They basically told me no matter what happens to the boat either on blocks or in the water I am covered. In the event of a total loss I'm covered for an agreed apon value of 34k. What a smile that gave me. I couldn't sell it for that if I tried. Anyway looks like its forcasted to make a turn for the worst good luck to all and maybe the storm will bring me a little closer that 330ec I've been eyeing. =-O

I rescued my 280 about three weeks ago from Long Beach Island (when I bought it), which is ground zero for Sandy. It's floating happily inland on a lake in CT, but I still feel like I have a child out in a hurricane. I took down the camper canvas yesterday, added dock lines, and I'm hoping for the best. I'm an hour away, so I can't easily get there to check on it. Of course, the marina's webcam isn't working!

Looks like Sandy took out the tall ship HMS Bounty. She wasn't a Sea Ray but she was a historical ship.

Weather service is predicting 33 foot seas on parts of Lake Michigan-Huron as a result of Sandy. Winds are sustained at 29 now from the north. Don't recall hearing wave heights this tall before. Usually they forecast 20-25 feet during November gales.

Boat in driveway, gas cans full, generator at the ready. Power went out at 10am but then came back on at 10:30...thats todays first miracle.

Its hitting us directly... The wind is really picking up, I could barely stand when I went out to adjust the lines on the boat... We are getting gusts of over 60 MPH and and we are 12 hours out from the worst. Still have electric, but we expect to lose that today. We have 10 lines on the boat, and we raised them expecting a 5-8' tidal surge. Worst part is my teenagers are off from school and boy they are annoying...

Boat is hauled out and blocked up.......but, with the expected storm surge I EXPECT TO LOOSE IT in the high tide tonight!!!!
Crap, crap,crap!
I really like my boat.

Maybe be time to join the diesel boat club.

Ive been on hms bounty 2 yrs ago ,thats a lot of boat .It would make for a nice live aboard if there wasnt the need for all that varnishing .Supposedly 2 crew are missing.Good luck east coasters hang on to your hats!

Prayers sent to all in Sandiy's path...looks like she's the b***h she's been made out to be!

Best of luck to all of you Jersey and New York and CT folks it looks crazy.

I got the night shift this time around 1800 to 1000. Boat is winerized hauled and blocked. Hope the surge is not too bad on the Northern Chesapeake.

Best wishes to all boaters on the east coast. Looks rough. Thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Thank you for all your wishes and prayers. Here in Va, along the James, we seemed to weather it pretty well. We lost power late last night but got it back early this morning. Many thanks to the crews at Va Power. I'm going down to the boat around 9 and will post some more photos today. To the folks north of us, please be safe, now my well wishes go out to all of you

Just got off the phone with the yard I had haul the boat and put inland. All the boats in his yard survied the storm intact, no damage! WHEW!!! I feel better now. Hoping all the rest of the north east boaters make out ok, but from what I've seen on the news DirectTV running, central Jersey got their butts kicked, sickening to see all that damage. I feel very fortuante since my boat is only like 80 miles south of AC. If the forecast tracks from last week would have held up, Delmarva would look like central/north Jersey. We have damaged beaches and roads and some boats but not near as bad as those to the north.
Thoughts and prayers go out to all those in the path/wake of this storm.

Hi Bob! I hope Doozie made it through OK. I'll be stuck working 16 hr shifts through the weekend! We still have over 300,000 folks without power. It is a very slow restoration.

I hope my boat did not float around down there how high was the water in the parking lot?

I see the devastating damage from the Jersey Shore and as far away as MI and can't believe it!

Tom, water up to the work shed , nobody floated, all is good. Tide stayed up all day to the bottom of the piers, high tide tonight around 9:00, but I think we should be good. Pm me a phone # I'll send PictsPicts

The video & pictures of the Jersey Shore and New York are incredible. My thoughts & prayers to all those affected. I hope that those of you in that area are safe, and your homes & boats made it through with little or no damage. I did see some pictures of Sea Rays that wound up in places they didn't belong.

We had a lot of heavy rain & wind here, but we had no damage & didn't lose power. The storm surge Tuesday morning peaked when it just covered the top of the pier.
