have been around for longer than I actually thought...and having you guys around to remind me of that is such a warm feeling...NOT!

"been around the block a time or two".... Well sir, I am in my 27th year of employment at Sea Ray Boats Inc., which is now more formally known as "The Brunswick Boat Group." I have worked in just about every department from lamination to now, being the delivery captain for the yacht line of boats. I was a Customer Service representative for many years and that is how and why I know a sizable group of individuals on this site.

I have a big passion for the products I help build and I get to live my passion every time I pull up to a marina in a new Sea Ray Yacht on a delivery. Our brand of boat commands attention and they do draw a gathering at each stop. It’s kind of like a religion to me, where I am not satisfied in just riding in a new Sea Ray, but feel a calling to let everyone know just how cool our style of boating can be…..and brethren, that is where this site is over the top!

With all organizations facing recent cut-backs and control of spending, we too have faced some challenges that have become opportunities. Club Sea Ray is HUGE in assisting us in the customer service business. Can you imagine if every question answered or resolved on this site, would not have had CSR to go to…our customer service folks would be flooded with calls. They handle calls all day long, both nationally and internationally, on new products, older products and parts orderings. For discussion purposes just use an easy number of fifty percent of all calls that are for information and instructions are resolved right here on this site…OUTSTANDING CSR ! And of course thanks to Mr. Connie Ray who first designed a boat, built a boat and sold a boat……and that still has us beaming today.

The new wave of excitement “go green” is NOT nearly important as “Go, Made in America”……all of your Sea Ray boats were built in the USA!

Go Green and Boat aren't allowed to be used in the same sentence here.

KK - That was what Sea Ray Customer Service told me to use via email. I used about half a caulk gun sized tube. Bad case of eye strain doing that taping though!! But it came out great. Matched perfectly and the bead is almost invisible.

I do not know how SR joins the deck to the hull. My Regal 2465 was a cap fit, like a ballcap on your head. the gap was filled (poorly) with caulk. I had the same problem. I pulled the rubrail and with a hawksbill knife and / or a grout removal tool removed all the caulk. I then filled the gap with 5200. In retorspect, that was not the best choice. I should have used Sikaflex or some type of thickened epoxy resin as I missed a couple of spots with the 5200. I still siliconed over the rubrail when done.

I think either boat life caulk, 3m 4000, or 3m 101. I am leaning towards 3m 4000 since it has UV inhibitors and stays rubberized. This is for my bow rails and I am going to be looking at where the top and bottom fits. I did spend some time this weekend looking for the leaks and I do have to say that most of them are around the stanchions for the bow rail.

Rusty, thank you for your help as well! This is why I always wanted a Sea Ray. I could never afford a new one, but they are built well and have a good following which this site has helped with the trial and tribulations of owning a boat. And I do like to restore things when I have time and the money since it helps me with my sanity for what I do full time!

(This is why I always wanted a Sea Ray)...... You have a nice Sea Ray Sir!

I enjoy talking just as much about the older ones as I do the new models. And I really enjoy seeing an older boat that is still looking good and yours fits that picture right nicely. As I said, I would have sprayed the gel coat on your hull and deck in '88, which translates to me being the very first person to be in your boat...actually I stood in the mold and sprayed gel coat onto the mold and thus began the life of your 340 Sundancer......dang, I am still excited and that was almost twenty-five years ago!

New boats, all relative captain. Yesterday afternoon, I delivered a brand new 610 Sundancer to a dealer just in time for the Lauderdale Boat Show.......that means your Sundancer in ten years, I just drove it and checked it out for you yesterday.....you’re going to like it !!

Standing by,

Rusty
