Okay - so here is a mystery and I'm opening it up for the brains here. Twice in the last year, immediately after hauling the boat via Travellift (once to load on the semi for transport, once out on the hard for repairs) I come around the stern of the boat to find her 'bleeding'...

It is water. (Yes, I have smelled and tasted it!) It is way more red in color than iron laden rust water. It is absolutely NOT coming from anything leaking in the stern locker...nor is it coming from a spill in the cockpit. Its coming from somewhere water (rainwater?) is collecting as the boat floats, and tipping the boat bow up spills it into that void and out the coaming.

Where is the water collecting and what on earth makes it so red???

Rotting wood? Is there somthing cored with wood that may have been penetrated by a fastener, etc that could be rotting?

Looks to me like its splashing onto the swim platform from above and then draining back into the locker. Could it have come from the overhead crane?

I think we have a winner!!!

+1 on the crane, looks like hydraulic fluid to me. Good thing the line did'nt blow with your boat up in the slings.

But was it the same crane that hauled it for the transport and repairs? Was the"water"in the same spot as the first time. To me that looks like rusty water and pink atf mixed. That water looks way to thin to b hydro oil and if he tasted it and it taste like water its probably water. Did u get pink in your locker maybe even a couple years back! Does it happen when your jumping on plane bow high and u never noticed because when u come off plane the water washed it away. ?

After JimG opened my eyes I agree with him. Splashed on transom then into locker area. If it came from inside the boat I would think it show up when getting on plane.

I agree. Go stand on your swim step and look up. If already in the slip, I would go to the travel lift and look up (with glasses on)

borrow a borescope.could be acumulated water around a cockpit hatch that isnt draining, but with the color i may say wet wood from aft seating, the fiberglass under the seat probably bows towords the middle and dumps off when lifted, but dries out in the summer.

Looks like same problem a friend of mine had. I'm pretty sure you have water saturated core material somewhere.

That does look like the goop that comes from wet fiberglass encapsulated wood. I would start by looking at the canvas where the side windows meet the radar arch. I have seen water leaking there if the canvas guy did not make the sides long enough. If water leaks there, then it runs behind the side panels, down to the deck and then anywhere it wants to go.

Rotting wood looks more brown, IMO.

Yeah its definitely red and the fiberglass visible inside the boat is bright red in color. It definitely originates inside, flowing outward, an as you can see, there is not a huge quantity - at least that makes its way out. There is no way I can see to determine exactly where it comes from, but my bet is rainwater that pools and sits on raw fiberglass somewhere. Its up high and makes its way downward when tipped. Weird...

Definitely not oil. Two different states - two different Travellifts.
