Replacing refrigerator advice please.

I just went through this same process on my 268DA. Ended up buying this unit off Ebay. It came from C ME Marine. They were great to work with and excellent prices.

I had to trim 1/2" off my cabinetry to get the new unit to fit, but it went right in and is VERY quiet with a lot more space than the old unit had. I've very happy.

Well we spoke too soon-:( It didn't work for long, we think it needs a new control or inventor. Probably need to do what you did Perry and replace most of it's parts.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

If you find a new cooling unit it's an easy fix. The fridge is a styrofoam box with a cooling unit attached to the back of it. That's it, plain and simple. The cooling unit comes off in one piece. It literally took me an hour to an hour and a half from start to finish. It's bascially a new frigde for $200 (atleast in my case). If I set it past 3 1/2 I can freeze food in the refridgerator portion.

Thanks Perry, our son found a place that sells parts so we'll order some after we take it out and see what it needs. What make is yours please, is it a Waeco too? Be nice to have a fridge that actually gets cold in the bottom as well as the freezer section for a change:)

Actually they do BritLady.

Here is the direct link to their website:

Add in shipping to the $649 price and you are back to what I paid. If not, call them and ask them to put more back on Ebay. They were really awesome to work with.

Oh, and make sure you also order the AC power cord. I missed that the first time around.

Thanks! I called them and I have to do some more research if we decide to buy a Norcold as I think the one in our cabin is larger than this one. Good to know about the company, they were very helpfull. Thanks for the info!

Brenda,
When we bought the 400EC three years ago our fridge was toast. I did some research in our area of all types to include call some guy in our area about coming out to fix it. He asked me one question - What make do I have - Norcold. He told me to replace it and he wouldn't be out. So we found a Vitrofrigo and love it. No icing up in the freezer.

LOL. our cockpit fridge is a Norcold and to date, touch wood has been okay. Going to take a look this week-end at the back of the Waeco and see what it needs or bite the bullet for a new one.

Brenda, back to your laptop problem, TRUST ME, buy a Macbook Pro. You can run almost all Windows programs on a Mac these days. This is my second Mac Book Pro, (First one got stolen) and THE only thing I had trouble with was space on the hard drive. My tech replaced the hard drive with a 1TB hard drive and again, NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER.

LOL, you sound like our daughter, she's a real Macbook fan. And now that I know I can run most Windows programs I think I shall buy one. Expect I will need Quickbooks and Quicken for Mac but that's a small price to pay if it's reliable. This thing was nearly $2k and it sucks! Dell already replaced it once too! Thanks for reinforcing my decision:)
