I was running a new "city waterline" and found this. I don't have any signs of a leak and it seems it has been replaced in the past by the PO. BTW the water in the picture is from a wash down I did. It was dry prior to washing.

What do you think replace the pooper line or leave it be.....

Doesn't seem to be a high priority item at this time. Unless there is nothing else to work on.
I wouldn't leave them wires on the hose clamp though.

If that's a black water hose, replace it. Odor will permeate that. The stuff doesn't last forever anyway.

Replace that black piece of rubber with a short piece of straight PVC. Cut it long enough to allow double clamps (always turned 180*). Heat the flex line with a heat gun, use a little dish soap, the PVC will slide right in.

Can't you use PVC cleaner and cement and put a fitting in there instead of the black rubber boot? That's how I do fittings on that kind of line at work, glue it just like a piece of schedule 40 pvc. If it is what i think it is that is.

Now that is an interesting fix and something I may do.

What would be the good/bad of replacing the entire run with PVC, except of course, the two ends which would have to be pooper hose?

What travels through that hose? It makes a differenc if it's scuppers from the deck or fuel or fresh water tank fill or waste pumpout or a vent.......

Well, poop, I would think....

It is the line from the head to the black tank. It is a straight run. (except where it hooks to the head and tank. There doesn't seem to be any issues with it right now, because all the water I have emptied into the head went right into the tank.

I have a manual head, so if there was a leak there, would that not affect the pumping action from the head to the tank?

I don't know as this type of system is a drastic up grade for me and the Admiral as we have a port-a-potty on the other boat. I pee in a bucket and dump it over the side.....:smt001

10.4, if it's just a line for that it's not a big deal....until it breaks! I would clean the system before taking it apart and put in a pvc coupler like I mentioned above. It will cost you about 3 bucks tops. The only problem is that you cannot get access to the hose in case something clogs it (don't know what that could be:lol:).

I'd go with the short piece of PVC fix. That hose is several dollars a foot so I'd just do the PVC if you can get away with it.

Absolutely nothing wrong with making your entire run out of PVC. Just put a clean-out in it where needed. Or, threaded adapters. You could always add the threaded adapters later if you had to cut it apart for some reason. But, you're perfectly safe to use PVC the whole way. It does make for a nice looking install.
