I have pulled all of my hatches and side slider windows to rebed the lexan as it has been leaking .Taylor made gave my glass shopmthe info to upgrade the sealant used and said they were leaking from pushing on the glass to open the hatch after it stuck to the gasket.anyway i was trying to find out what you guys or gals as the case may be used to clean the dreaded silicone from the deck before resealing the hatches to the deck.I was thinking interlux 202 that i have left over from bottom painting job .I also need to clean silicone from side windows where po tried to fix those leakes (OMG THEY ARE ALIVE) ,those frames are anodised aluminumi think.thanks oh and can anyone speak hawian i am trying to name the boat and its driving me nuts.

Maybe acetone? Anyway, DO NOT use silicone to re-bed your windows. 3m 4200 or silkaflex or equivalant.

I hears ya Bud, I'm going to the boat (indoor storage about 10 minutes away) on the 21st of this month to get some pics and measurments for some pre-launch mods. I will also bring my generator to give the batteries a blast for an hour or so.

been through rockport on the erie canal when i had a 40 silverton convertible.left from detroit and ended in ithica as step daughter was riding a full scholarship at cornell for phd.Stayed 5 days at state docks while exploring the university and the many falls in the area .Thats some cold water but very clean and clear.I hit that last lock into cayuga lake and a storm hit so i did the 46 miles through it all and there werw=e people watching from restraunts and such on the roadways around the lake ,I must have met a dozen of them that week.funny thing as i pulled in to state docks it was calm and flat as glass.

Fishing line can sometimes be of help. Wrap it around your fingers, like floss, then keep it right on the surface as you pull it along. A sharp razor blade can also be used - at a shallow angle. Just be careful if you're using it an area that will end up being seen.

I don't know about the 202, but I'd go for the acetone, as well (obviously not on the Lexan). Life Calk is great stuff. Nothing wrong with 4200, but personally I prefer the Life Calk.

+1 Vote for that Hawaiin name! :smt001

3M makes a silicone removing spray, it does a great job. You can get it at West Marine Home Depot or an auto parts store.

Wrong Rockport my friend. We did that trip down to Ithaca last summer. We came off Lake Ontario at Oswego and worked our way down from there. My Rockport is directly across the St. Lawrence River from Alexandria Bay, N.Y. in The Beautiful Thousand Islands. We are about 5 miles east of the Thousand Islands International Bridge that connects the USA with it's friendly neighbour to the north.
