Has anyone had any experience with removing the over-the-refrigerator TV & VHS player? I would like to replace it with a small flat screen TV, but not sure where to start.

    Thanks,

Sorry don’t remember. All I do remember is that it was attached to a piece of plywood and it came out as one with said plywood. I don’t remember if it was unscrewed from underneath when the fridge is removed. Again sorry not much help

I believe the piece of wood it’s attached to should have some screws towards the front.

I can say with some level of confidence that the fridge does not need to move. My TV is long gone but I'm fairly certain the fridge has never been touched.

FWIW that location isn't the most ideal for a TV from a viewing/distance perspective. It'll be a tiny flatscreen to fit and it's up high, away from the couch. I've seen a wine cooler in that location that looked really cool. I've got a liquor cabinet up there. An ideal spot for the booze...close to the ice. :)

The bulkhead at the master berth is screaming for a flat screen if you haven't done it already. This is the most viewer-friendly position you can throw a TV on our boats, IMO.

Too funny - when I read the thread title I thought, "damn - I hate to admit that I don't really remember!".

It's good to know that I'm in good company. The fridge stays-put though. IIRC, there was a little L-block along the back end of the tray that holds the tv. I removed the switch plates next to the fridge to get access to it, only to discover that the tray slides past it anyway. I think. I drink.

My cool wine cooler stopped cooling at the end of the season. I have a replacement sitting in a box - I hope it fits.

I'd like to see a picture of that wine cooler, the previous owner put a small flat screen up there in mine but its pretty worthless. This is a picture from when I bought the boat, looks quite a bit different now. IMG_8355.jpg

OK, so I got the TV out by removing the 2 screws in the front, removing the trim piece around the top of the cabinet that the fridge is in, and sliding it out. My new question is how do I mount a flat screen TV in the hole. hole.JPG

I can't find a pic. I'll try to take one the next time I go to the boat. It's simple - just a wooden box that hold a 6 bottle wine fridge on the left and room on the right to slide-in bottles of red.

That fridge is impressive looking! I still want to get the same microwave. What changes did you make?

I put in a 28" Samsung smart tv on an articulating mount. That left room in the opening for storage/receivers/hdmi splitters etc. I put in a 2x4 vertical to install the mount on. The tv swings out of the way to access that big old hole. Crappy picture but you can see that is about as big as will fit.

I do not think that the prior owner had to really do anything to install that Microwave. He said it slid right in!

I'd run into the inboard edge of that TV just about every single Saturday night. Not dock cocktail hour friendly :):)

I hear you! It isn't as pronounced as the picture would have you think but I do straighten them damn thing often when people bump it.

I did something similar. I built a storage drawer and mounted it on drawer slides. I put a larger
"front" on the drawer to cover up the size of the original TV opening, and painted it black so it blends in. I put an articulating TV mount on the front of that. The TV can swing out if needed but is positioned pretty well as it is. The drawer slides out for access if needed, but so far all I've stored in it are the surge protector, cable box, and wires, but it leaves plenty of room for other things. If you wanted to make it a liquor cabinet, it's the same basic concept.

I went with a smaller TV, probably a 24" just so I could keep clearance with the stairway. It's pretty easy to measure and see how big you want to go.

I'm jealous of the 400's galley cabinet setup, so much more room than the 410.

We have a 24" lcd over the fridge and I also think its a dumb spot. If I was to put one on the master stateroom bulkhead it would mean removing the mirror so we're kind of stuck with it
