Relay for life 2010

Ok,
I'm at 50% (well close...$2490) of my goal of $5000 for the Relay for Life. I'm very thankful to those that have already contributed. I have received some very generous donations, but certainly dont' expect large amounts. $10 donations are great, and add up quickly. I am currently the top fundraiser for this event. Last year I was at the top until the last two days. Then this guy comes along with a ton of offlin donations and edged me out. I was happy for him since it's such a great cause, but I hope to be the event's top fundraiser. I feel somehow I'm honoring my Dad. If you can help me get there that would be great. At 50% already I'm well on my way to that goal. Thanks a ton!

Mike, Janine, John, Kathy, Carol and Joanne. THANK YOU Very much for your donations over the weekend. I am now at 75% of my goal. This is great I have received donations through friends of friends and I’m not sure where some of them have seen the link, so I’m thanking them everywhere I have posted the link.

Everyone has been affected at some point so I appreciate you donating to my Relay for Life link so I can vicariously participate for you and your loved ones, in memory or celebration.

Thank you again and keep it coming. Together we’ll make a difference.

Thanks Scott for your donation to my Relay for Life last night. Very ..very generous. I'm now at 87% of my goal. Amazing... and on what would have been my Dad's 66 birthday. As a tear and a beer fell in his name last night, it's much appreciated. I am now less than $700 of my goal. Thank you

Wow! Thanks to some of you and many others I'm only 5% away from my goal. Thank you for considering this, honoring your loved ones and hopefully funding an opportunity to either find a cure or improve treatment and life.

Last April I was able to take my Dad for his last boat ride along with my Brother Troy.
It was very memorable. I posted about it here "A sailor's last voyage"
Well as many of you know he passed away May 7th of last year. I walked in the Relay for life 2 days after his memorial service in June of last year and I was an awakening for me. It became very important to help fund a cure. I have had many of you and others donate to my Relay for life page.

I'm very close @ $4820.00. If I have 18 people drop $10 ea, I'll be there.
Looking for 18 people that want to help me reach my goal of $5000 for Relay for life.

Thanks again to everyone for their support over the last couple of years.

Might as well keep it going. It's all for a great cause!

Ok, I'm back on the warpath. Thanks to many of you I've made my goal in my fundraising efforts for "Relay for Life" but my team just got passed in the standings for top fundraising team. So, if you haven't had a chance to donate and wish to help, I'd be grateful. I want the lead back!

One more day of fundraising and my Relay for life team is $212 away from our goal. I've been fortunate to have so many great people donate to my personal page and I've made my goal. If you still wish to donate please consider one of my teammates.

Ok, today's the day. This is my last post bugging anyone about Relay for Life.
Please send a donation in or spread the word to those of you that know someone who wants to support the American Cancer society. Our team the Oly Angels is in first place in fundraising for now, but the competition is right on our heals and we have teh next 27 hours to try and stay at the top. Give us a hand.
Thanks to EVERYONE !!!

Hey Everyone.
I want to thank you for donating to my overwhelming success at the “North Snohomish County” Relay for Life this last weekend. Thanks to all of your generosity I was the top fundraiser for the event. With $5677.00 raised I beat the 2nd place fundraiser by $2859.70. I could not have been more proud to have such great support. Most of you encouraged me and told me a story or that I was doing great work. I appreciate that they honored my efforts in both the opening and closing ceremonies. It was great to get up at the opening ceremony, speak to the crowd and challenge people to do more. We all know someone that is affected by cancer and as you know from my stories and some of the stories you all have shared with me through your comments on your donation, that it really hits the heart. I’m not sure that until you attend an event like this that the full gravity and emotion can be felt. It is truly a freight train of emotions that is shared there. I had my own feelings of sadness for my Dad and wife’s Mom, friends there that either have or had cancer and then seeing all the purple shirts of those that also either have or had cancer.

At 10PM there was a luminary ceremony where everyone we were remembering had their names and comments on white paper bags with a lit candle in it lining the track. It was very emotional as all of the Relay teams and their members walked the track with lit handheld candles passing the luminary bags.

Next year I want to make sure I get all of the people you are remembering and honoring on a luminary bag, take pictures for you and share them afterwards. If any of you would like I can send you a bag to decorate and return to me for that ceremony. If not I will do it for you. It’s very important to me that you know how much I appreciate your support. I had 60 people supporting me. I apologize for not doing that this year. Your donations are in their honor and believe me I remembered that every minute of the Relay.

Our team ended up getting passed in the fundraising efforts by “Kickin’ it for Cancer” who are great people. They were selling Italian sodas during the Relay and other items and did very well. Our team sold some items and were donated an inflatable ‘bouncy house’ we let all the kids jump on for 5 ½ hours and raised another $500 or so in combined efforts. In total our team The Oly Angels raised $9805.00. Amazing and I’m so proud. That gave us the honor of being a Sapphire level team, short of Diamond by $195. Next year that is our goal plus to beat our friendly competition. I need to think of better ideas, we came in second by $369.75. The official fundraiser ends in a couple of weeks so I suppose we can still catch them.

Our event raised nearly $120,000. Last year the City of Arlington broke from the “North Snohomish County” Relay for Life (which now consists of Lake Stevens, WA and Marysville, WA) and started their own. They raised over $236,000 dollars. This year Lake Stevens will split off and start their own, which I really like. So next year it will be the Marysville Relay for Life.

Anyway, I really want to thank you all once again. I want to raise my goal to $10,000 personally and I want to see our team goal be $20,000. Now that we’ve done two Relay events we know we can do better. I would like to set the above as our yearly goals, shine amongst all the great fundraising efforts of other teams but be the one at the top so with your help, honor your loved ones and fight back.

Thank you so much.
