I received a registered letter from SR in today's mail. :smt100 It seems that they overlooked an important step in manufacturing my boat. :smt021 Consequently they have issued a service bulletin to correct the problem. This problem involves certain model year 2006/2007 44DB, 480DA, 52DB & 58DB boats. :smt101

Apparently the problem can be corrected by the vessel owner with no need for the dealer to get involved. Sea Ray has provided the parts and all tools needed within the mailing envelope.

The problem?...

Two labels were left off the fly bridge.

WARNING: REMOVE TV AND MOUNT FROM CONSOLE WHEN BOAT IS UNDERWAY. TV MAY BE IN THE OPERATOR'S FIELD OF VISION. FAILURE TO DO SO COULD RESULT IN DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY.

CAUTION: DON OT USE PROTECTIVE COVER UNTIL TV COOLS. UNPLUG TV WHEN NOT IN USE. FAILURE TO SO SO MAY RESULT IN HEAT BUILD UP AND PERMANENT DAMAGE TO TV.

Too bad they never gave me a cover for my TV. I guess that will go on the punch list on Monday :smt021.

Went past your boat 4 times today, didn't see anyone on board...

Hmmm, missing decals, that sounds serious. I'd hire a lawyer! LOL

Did their letter also contain legal jargon that said if you, as the owner, didn't attach said decals they, Sea Ray, could not be held responsible for any injury as a result of (your) negligence? :smt101:grin: If it did, then for sure I would call the dealer and have them send sopmeone out to put them on.:smt043

The fact that those labels are deemed necessary speaks volumes about the dumbing down of our society. How come there's no label warning me that my boat may get wet? Who do I see about that?

My all-time favorite is the one on the hard top that says you shouldn't put your head within 2 feet of the operating radome.

Most warnings come from a claim that has happened. I would not be surprised if this is the case here as well. The insurance companies loss control as well as attorneys require them to have the warnings. My favorite is on the steering wheel of a RV that says warning this vehicle can not drive itself and yes there was a claim where a guy had bought an RV had been driving it for a couple of hours on his first trip and decided that he wanted to get up and fix a sandwich, he tried to sue the mfg.

Favorite STORY perhaps, just not actually true.

nice, you do not know how many times I have heard that story told by a professor as true.

Interesting.
