Recreational boats will be exempt

That is real good news.:smt038

I can see why now that Lisa Murkowski was holding up the bill. In Alaska we have a lot of small boats used in commercial fishing. These boats are 20-30 foot and we call them "bow pickers".

I am glad the Alaska team, with others came to their senses and listened to the "little" guy!

WOOHOO! More fuel money!

You use the same logic as my wife.

My wife’s sisters SUV has the transmission go out, a $4,700 repair job. Then she found out it was under some sort of extended warranty so she only had to pay a $500 deductable. So she says “Hey, cool, now you have an extra $4,200 to spend!”

I say “But you never actually had the mone……..never mind. Enjoy the shopping."

One less thing to worry about this season! I just paid my state registration (which is really a luxury tax) for the year, so I wasn't particularly anxious to pay the government an additional tax to enjoy my boat.

Not really, in my case this extra money going out would have come out of my boating fund money (which is already in the checking account) So it will just go towards what it was intended instead of a new tax imposed on us.

Just because I don't have 3 balls doesn't mean I can't afford my recreation/hobby.

He gave you reputation points, then he told you about it to make sure you saw it, so maybe down the road you could love him back

OK Pres Thanks but.....

How do you give the love? Haven't figured that out yet.

I hate politics and stay away from them, but this time around I thought I should participate with all complaint letters to our senators. I'm totally surprised that we actually won this fight. It's a great feeling that we were able to make a difference by raising our voices. Congratulation to all and thanks to those who kept sending letters to their gov. office.

Alex.

if anyone wants to see WHO in the senate backed the exemption check it out here...

it's a miracle that this wasnt looked at as still another way for the govt to reach into the pockets of all us "rich" boaters for a dedicated permit fee and then squander it away in the general fund. KUDOS to BOAT/US and all of us who got behind this movement. i think we should all throw open our Y-valves and macerators in celebration (just kidding ).

we should all work to recruit more BOAT/US members. this is a great organization that really looks out for the interests of boaters and at the same time respects the preservation of our waterways.
