RAYNAV 300 replacement?

Has anyone replaced the RAYNAV 300 with an updated version, and if so what did you replace it with?

I have a RAYNAV 300 which is the master for the RL80C GPS and Radar. The 300 is old technology, and I would like to replace it with a color GPS chartplotter if there is a replacement.

This is a very nice color chartplotter. It is the only game in own with similar dimensions to the Raynav you have anyway.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm looking to do. I want to replace the RAYNAV 300 with one of the Raymarine arch mounted GPS receivers. Wire that direct to the RL80c and Autopilot, and then fill the RAYNAV hole with a Raymarine color chart plotter, or something else. The Standard Horizon fits the bill. I'm surprised that Raymarine doesn't have a updated version of the Raynav 300 or Raychart that will fit the thousands of Sea Ray's that were shipped with them.

I'd like to do the same thing, can I just switch them, ie will the gps antenna plug into the new unit?

I ended keeping the RAYNAV 300. I bought a new antenna, the Raystar 125, and wired it directly to the junction box, that feeds the RL80c, and autopilot.
Actually the Raystar is a GPS/antenna in one.

If you buy the Standard Horizon, it comes with a new antenna, which I believe you will have to use. You could easily see if the existing antenna would work before replacing it.

The RN 300 is a decent "secondary" display for instrument data and waypoints, etc. so hooking up the Raystar 125 on the network and setting the RN 300 in slave mode is a decent use of everything. If you make sure the NMEA in and out cables are hooked to your primary chartplotter, you can also exchange waypoints easily and it makes a good "backup" in case the primary chartplotter fails. The RN 300 is not a good primary chartplotter though so if that's why you are replacing it, I can understand...
