There is a new software version out for the C-series. Look pretty sweet:

Version 4.25 adds the following new features to your C70, C80 or C120:

SIRIUS Marine Weather Service: Display up-to-the-minute weather data on the C-Series display including layers like Sea Surface temperature, NOWRad Weather Radar, Surface Pressure, Wave heights and more.

Requires optional SR50 SIRIUS Weather Receiver and Subscription.

SIRIUS Satellite Radio: Enjoy up to 130 channels of satellite radio programming including commercial free music, sports, news, talk and more.

Requires optional SR50 SIRIUS Weather Receiver, Subscription, and connection to on board audio system.

Expanded support for Navionics Cartography: C-Series displays now support the following Navionics charts on CompactFlash Media:

Navionics Platinum**
Navionics Gold Plus
Navionics Silver
HotMaps USA
HotMaps Premium
Fish'N Chip
**C-Series Platinum support consists of 2D Navigation Charts, Panoramic Photos, Cruising Guide Data, expanded Ports and Services only. 3D charting and aerial photo overlays are not accessible from C-Series displays.

Animated Tides: See the actual rise and fall of the tides right on your navigation chart. Select from today's tides or choose any date in the past or future. Play, pause, step forwards or backwards. Time interval control allows you to specify the number of minutes elapsed in each animation step.

Animated Currents: Watch the tidal ebb and flood play out right before your eyes. Scaled arrows clearly show the direction and speed of the current. Playback controls allow you to play, pause, step forwards or backwards. See currents for today, or any date past of future. Time interval control allows you to specify the number of minutes elapsed in each animation step.

Chartplotter Range Rings: Radar style range rings can be easily added to or removed from the navigation chart to assist in determining the range to charted objects.

Compass Databar: Horizontal databar can be enabled on the top of the display to show you compass heading, Course Over Ground and Bearing to Waypoint information.

Enhanced Engine Data Display*: Monitor up to 3 main engines, 4 generator sets, trim tabs, engine tilt, fuel tank levels and more. Data displays are fully customizable to show you just the information you want to see.

*NMEA 2000 or J1939 compatible engines and sensors required.

Integrated Autopilot Control: Engage or disengage your Raymarine autopilot system right from your C-Series multifunction display. Convenient Go to and Follow Route integration allows you to track to a waypoint or route without leaving the chartplotter display.

In addition to these new features, the following enhancements were made:

Brightness Control Timeout: It is no longer necessary to press OK or CANCEL after adjusting the backlight level to hide the backlight level indicator. It will automatically disappear after 3 seconds.
Hide Rocks Option: We have added the ability to control the symbols for charted rocks independent of other layers on the chart. In addition to turning them on or off, you can also selectively display charted rocks according to depth thresolds of 16, 20, 33 and 66 feet.
NMEA Sentence "MDA" Added: We have added the ability to decode the NMEA Meterological Data sentence "MDA" enabling C-Series compatibility with the Airmar Technology weather transducer system.
AIS Integration: Improvements have been made to overall data handling and system alarms.

Jim - I currently have a Navionics Gold card for the Chesapeake. It is a couple of years old. Is it worth it for me to upgrade to Gold+ or Platinum? I know I won't be able to use all the features of the Platinum card on my C70.

There are no additional features that are worth the extra expense in my opinion. Stick with the Gold. One thing that is nice for this year is one chart covrs the whole east coast now

CJ-

I know this goes back a couple of weeks but thought its worth the entry. I discussed this very issue with Cutting Edge and he suggested going wireless with your laptop to the local WiFi network. Most if not all the data your looking for is available on the net.

I belive the Raymarine interface was about 650.00 and required a monthly fee.

The boat came with Sirius and eliminate the need for cd's on our end.

Take Care.

Thanks for the info but I think I'm done with upgrades for this year. :smt009

The good news is that I'm nearly done with my Smartcraft upgrade. I have the parts and wiring diagrams I need to hook up the fuel senders, once that is done I'll swap in the Smartcrat 4-in-1 guages and that will finish it.

Our Favorite SmartCraft option is the rudder indicator. I keep it on at slow speeds. Nice feature. Good luck with install. I'm still debating on who's air horn to add. I think I'll get some jollies out of a loud one.
