I have an 01 310 with IB v drives... horizon engine 300 hp each. My WOT is 4400. Boat 1/2 full of fuel, full water. My hole shot stinks. Max speed is 24.5 knots. If anybody knows what they have for props and their WOT is that would be helpful to my prop sizing problems. I may need to swap them for less pitch. The mechanic I use want them at 4800 - 5000 WOT.

Thanks for your assistance!

Rick

I think I have 16x17 and need to go to 16x15 nibral 3-blade. I will confirm this this weekend when I get back to the boat.

I went from 16x17 to 16x15 and performance improved to about what you are getting.

Make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Verify the transmission ratios are the same on your boat as the boat you are comparing against.

Hrmmm... My mechanic said he want the motors at 48 - 5000 WOT. So your WOT is 44 - 45 also?

True. I guess I've seen 4600 once in a while, if the boat is lightly loaded, but mostly 44 - 45. With the original 16x17 props, it would not top 4000. The original owner told me to cruise at 3400 and 19 kts, but at this power the boat wouldn't stay on a plane on rough water. At WOT of 4000 it would reach 21 kts but felt labored. Now I cruise at 3400 & 20 kts and WOT is 45 & 25 kts. Even if 48 - 50 may be spec, I think that I am close enough.

You may have a different reduction ratio. Mine is 1.5:1

I think mine is also 1.5 to 1. I'm going to wait for some fresh fuel before I do anything. I just got a quote of $1070 for 2 new props pitch TBD.

Thanks. I still have to check what tranny ratio I have... I think I have a 2.5:1 (update: incorrect see below) the more I think about it. Will check next time I am at the boat.

it is a 1.5:1 ratio However I may have some old gas in there also may have marine life on the bottom. Many peeps in the marina are complaining about the same thing. More investigations I guess.

So, What do others have on their boats (310 v-drive with 1.5:1 ratio?) and do you also have trouble getting on plane loaded. I figure with 600 hp this baby should jump out of the water. I would like to get more configurations if possible before I take the leap and change props.

Similar to what was posted below....

Here is what I have on the boat....in the spring, had full tanks and my 5 and 7 year old on the boat and we reached 4900 port, 4950 stbd....Hurth transmission, not sure of the gear ratio...

I run at 3400 roughly 18 to 19 kts depending on current/wind....boat does not like to be below this RPM otherwise she squats a bit in the water...

Hope this helps...

would also check marine growth as this will have a dramtic impact on performance....I did the same WOT run about a month ago and barely got to 4600 rpm....had growth on the running gear, underwater exaust ports and the tabs. when i do a run up to WOT next spring, hope to hit the correct numbers...

Also, your mechanic is right.... about trying to get the boat to the right RPM so the engine is operating in the right power curve....

Wow 17x20 That is amazing if you are 1.5:1 ratio. Please check the tranny ratio for me if you can. Also you have the horizon 300 hp right?

Thanks. I definitely scraped some barnies off the bottom of the tabs last weekend :( Can't wait to pull it to see what is on there.
