ProMariner - Jim Mitchell

Wow,

I called Jim and left a message with a question regarding the charging of AGM's with my existing ProMariner charger.

He called me back within 30 minutes. I can't even get my wife to do this.

Jim.....you are the man and represent ProMariner WELL!!

THANKS

Jim

I have a dockmate with a less than two year old 1240i. It has started making a buzzing noise. I have run the troubleshooting tips (disconnect the batteries, change the absorbtion dips to 1 hour, change the battery dips to flood) and it never leaves Fast Charge state.

I left a message late Friday afternoon on the support line.

What do we do next?

Jim will call you back. I have dealt with him a few times over the years and he has been absolutely great. I just had to replace a 1240i plus due to low voltage coming out of the 12 volt side (it was buzzing, too). Jim was a tremendous help. I don't give many plugs, but I will here. The solution went past fair and was actually generous. That's the SECOND time I have had that experience with Jim and ProMariner.

I stay loyal over that kind of service. I even went to their website to see what else they sell. I will buy their products first. Jim, thanks again for all your help, including finding a cheap way to overnight the ProNautic C3, and sending it yourself.

Thanks for the heads up. My experience has been the same with ProMariner. Excellent folks to do business with.

This unit is having the same issue as yours. 11.9 volts out the DC side with buzzing noise.

I started another thread with the EXACT problem on a 2 year old 1220i! It starts buzzing when it goes into float mode. I think the lights go out that indicate the charge status when it jumps into float mode. It's sure loud though!

Happy to help and just so you know if there is a product that we make that you would like to purchase we do offer great discounts through our customer appreciation program.

Mistercomputer,

I notice that now 3 folks have noted issues with their chargers "buzzing" as you note it. I can only guess as each problem is different customer to customer but it appears you are describing a relay making contact and breaking contact. We had experienced about a 5% failure rate which is much higher then we would ever expect or wish to see on ProTech-i units built in a few production lots in 2008. Once it was identified we remove the part from the build of materials and have been in the clear since. Regardless of the situation I would like to help in each case to get you all back up and running. Just sounds like this is the case. Let me know what I can do.

I can be reached directly at 603-766-7603 or email if you prefer at jmitchell@pmariner.com

Hi Jim

Thanks for the explanation. As we discussed on the phone Monday, once I receive the replacement unit I will ship this one back to you for failure analysis. I appreciate your prompt response and your ownership of this issue. You folks are a great asset to the boating community and we are grateful for companies such as yours.

Followup-
The replacement charger is installed and working properly. The one that came out of the boat is on the way back to you via the UPS pickup tag you were thoughful enough to have put in the box.

As a result of you and your company's willingness to go the extra mile, it took less that an hour to correct the problem from the time I spoke with you until the batteries were charging again.

I appreciate the help and will wholeheartedly sing ProMariner's praises to all those who will listen.

Does Promariner have a clearance or discount center? My brother is possibly buying a boat (soon) and he wants to add a charger. I told him to buy a Promariner.

Nehalennia,

We do not have a discount center but as an existing ProMariner customer you can purchase any of our products at a discounted rate. Please email or call me with questions. 603.766.7603 or jmitchell@pmariner.com

I just installed the PrNautic 1260 and it appears to be working great. I noticed that it switches to float mode and stops charging when I am still showing negative consumed amp hours on the battery monitor and battery level at 77%. Is there a way to force it to continue charging?

James -- I have a 2008 44db with a bow thruster charger 2425 c3. Should I leave it on when I am docked and not using the boat? I sense the lights on the charger will drain the batteries. Can I use the thruster when I do not have the gen on supplying power to it or do the engines supply charge to these two isolated batteries?

Labbur....Jim moved on and there is someone else to contact now at promariner. Call the 800 # and ask for Jim's replacement. Ric
