Ok, now I understand that forums are filled with fake people and spam CAN be a problem...but when I start getting SPAM in my private messages, it warrants the powers to be to look into 'How can we stop this?' or at least limit this..

you make something idiot proof, they will make a better idiot, I understand that.

I have seen the messages on the board but this is the first time someone private messaged me....has anyone else received similar SPAM in private messages?

Its been handled. You are right, when you put in measures to stop it at some point a way will be figured out to get around those measures in short order. Just hit the delete button.
