Prejudiced? Me? You bet your bippy!

Missouri is a constitutional carry state, but I'm not a big fan. Just like boating, you end up with some dumbasses carrying that don't know anything about gun safety. I would like to know that the person I see carrying went through some minimum amount of training. But I would rather have constitutional carry than the Illinois or New York systems. I keep my concealed carry permit up to date. I have been pulled over in the past while carrying and it really helps to hand the officer my license and carry permit then explain that I have a loaded weapon on my person. It gives them a level of comfort that I have some safety training. That said, I have been shooting since I was a kid.

so curious. What is the issue with Illinois system? The overall FOID card or concealed carry training requirements? Don’t get me wrong IL sux, but like you said there are a lot of incompetent gun owners out there.

My BIL had his PA carry permit but let it lapse. He is reapplying while he still can.

PA has a pretty good constitution. Reality is it really voids all the gun laws on the books. Problem is, those in charge stopped caring about the constitution. And those they get to enforce the unconstitutional laws, well little Debbie needs those braces. And it has a great dental plan.

State Right to Bear Arms in Pennsylvania

Article I, Section 21 of the Pennsylvania State Constitution states: "The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned."

I have had my CCW since about 1994 or 1995. Even while I was in law enforcement I still kept it current even though I didn't need it. Pretty easy to get in PA if you have a clean record. Pay your $25 or whatever it is and you are good to go. I think there should be a minimal training requirement like a 20-40 hour course or something. I know a kid that bought a gun and the first night put a bullet through his bedroom wall. Luckily nobody was injured but he had no training and had no experience handling a firearm. Those folks give us a bad name and give ammo to the anti-2A folks

It's about that easy in WA. About a week for a background check, pay your money and you got it.

I'm undecided about requiring training. I can see both sides of this argument but I tend to lean towards not requiring it.

Ah yes, the State that gave us Fetterman who’s in a mental hospital babbling and drooling while someone writes Bills for him.

Pretty easy to win when they are bringing in ballots by the truckload from people that probably don't even know they voted.

yeah I get the slippery slope argument but I still think when untrained idiots do stupid things with guns it hurts us that put in the work and are responsible

Fetterman is an idiot. The guy lied his way through the election. Claimed how safe he made Braddock. Braddock is a disaster, both criminally and financially. Not that he caused it, but he certainly didn't fix it like he claimed. He also pulled a shotgun on an innocent black jogger about 10 years ago and even said on the local news that he may have broke a few laws

Doesn't say much for the intelligence of the average voter.

And if I am reading right, only for Illinois residents, correct? I cannot get one living in Wi.

Do your due diligence, but as long as you're licensed to carry in your home state, you can carry in your vehicle in Illinois and be legal...you just can't leave your car with it. www.handgunlaw.us and pick your state, for state specific info...

Nah, those who voted for him are the idiots. He’s just a pawn.

Also, some states have restrictions on ammo type, etc. My PA CCW is valid in Michigan but IIRC Michigan does not allow hollow points. I may have the states wrong but just something else to watch for.

It would say in the PDF from HandGunLaw.US - 99% sure that is not the case in Michigan...that is all that I carry...

HP’s are completely legal here.

Believe you’re thinking of New Jersey.

But my question to you about your statement is this: You can send an idiot through a mandatory class but he's still going to be an idiot when he comes out because he knows better than everyone else. So what have you gained?

And criminals, by their nature, do not follow the law so they would not buy their guns through normal channels like law abiding citizens do. They steal them.

Also, think about this aspect:

All of the comments regarding training deal with CCW.

The average joe that buys a gun solely for range use or home defense is simply exercising his 2A right. When someone like that inadvertently does something foolish, it is as detrimental to the cause as your implication. So, are you going to require training to use a constitutional right??

That would amount to proving you're worthy to purchase a gun which obviously would have to be done in order to CCW.

What other constitutional right requires any proof of your worthiness to enjoy?

PS: I HATE THE FRIGGIN' DST TIME CHANGE!! Slept like $h!t and doubt this is spelled out as clearly as it could be, but you get the point.

You have to register to vote and prove you’re eligible. You have to learn the English language to speak it.

America is advanced citizenship. There is an obligation to exercise your 2nd Amd right responsibly. Way too many asshats out there these days. While I hate government anything, I don’t know what the answer is.

F the voting “requirement” you don’t even need to show an ID. There needs to be a shit ton more scrutiny over voting than there is, but you know the ‘tards won’t put up with it.

Absolutely agree that people should be responsible with weapons.

ABSOLUTELY DISAGREE with previously implied requirement to prove ANYTHING but my identity (and that is pushing it) to exercise any constitutional right.

WTF does English have to do with the price of tea in China?

They f’n print the ballots in Spanish also, and probably whatever other one you request!
